so at first i wasn't feeling the song, i'm still on the fence about it but i realised my issue with the song.

i absolutely love the first 2:30 of the song. it feels like something fresh for her and exactly the kind of sound i love in general. but then the song hits that 2:30 point specifically where the lyrics "You don't seek it, you won't see it. That, we all know" from that point onward the song becomes flat and boring to the point where i only want to play the first 2 minutes of the song bc the last 2 minutes ruin it for me. it loses its momentum i guess? and kinda falls back in line with her previous music for me anyway. she could have easily lost the last 2 minutes and if she did i would've liked it so much more. this isn't to be hateful, i just want to share my experience with the song.

So interesting because i love that beat change the most and the background vocal she has during that section are my absolute favorite! it sounds straight out of her destiny' child days and the offbeatness of it all :jonny6: . At first i was confused by the rhythm,  but i feel like it's absolute genius now. So free and pure. Vintage Bey. Even though i liked the song from the first listen, it's definitely a grower. i had that same feeling that a lot of people had of it missing something, but i think it's pop perfection now. For me personally, i grew up on gospel music so i wanted her to belt more, but i think that would have made it too churchy. She keeps it firmly in pop although she experiments with the gospel choir. And the production is so sleek. There's really like so many hooks because the adlibs, back ground vocals and runs keep changing. i mean just complete and utter slayage. Really makes me think of her song writing on Crazy in Love and during the Survivor era. And of course Single Ladies- another poppy song with heavy church influences. Bey and the Dream make magic 100%

i think you might like the second half of the song on more listens, but if not i feel pretty confident the video will slay and the rest of the album.

i have really tried :dancehall:

and yes i totally think the mv will be a slay and maybe that will help me accept that part of the song :rip:

but either way im intrigued for the album bc like i said those first 2:30 sound so fresh for her and exactly what i like so if we get more of that im gonna love it!

This is such universal track. Anyone can relate to it in some aspect. It can be played from church to the club to the polls. This is an anthem.

And another one in the basket for Ms. Knowles' legendary career. I'm convinced she's an angel who's here to help humanity :alexz:

She has to be either performing or dropping a teaser tonight. I'm convinced. It's just too perfect of an opportunity. Also still #2 on itunes and top 10 on AM and Spotify U.S.

they really do, and it's fascinating how none of their collaborations sound the same, and are not even really in the same genre as eachother.

Like the same team (more or less) made Run the World and 1+1 and Single Ladies and Smash Into You and BREAK MY SOUL liiiike.

Over 20 million streams on Spotify already :clap3:

I still find it so amusing that ATRL was so sure her “lack of hits” over the last decade had something to do with her falling off, totally dismissing the fact that the top 20 Hip Hop and R&B classics she pumped out between 4 and Lemonade out streamed a lot of the MPGs #1 (top 5) hits. It’s just so interesting. Yet she gives us one dance song that resonates with white twinks of the sort and it suddenly becomes clear to certain members that she’s still got it. I can’t imagine what excuses and coping mechanism OBH will have have to go through this era, but it will be very transparent as per usual.

It's so satisfying seeing this success after the Hive insisted to the haters that the performance of her side projects (Everything is Love and Black Is King) was not indicative of the reception of her own upcoming solo material.

All the celebrating and undermining for absolutely nothing. Could've saved themselves some dignity.
