Wouldn’t it more sense to make BMS as big as possible and then launch a second single when the album comes out?

Post-album singles are becoming harder and harder for super big and established artists to pull off, so if they’re still pushing BMS album release week then I feel like unfortunately that’s gonna be the only successful single of the era.

Also even Adele went all in with EOM right when it was released, which is what helped it be super big up through when her album came out.

The way BMS is set up, it's quite evident for me that they are aiming for longevity this time around compared to the "maximize-first-week-exposure" for ST and Lemonade. The fact we got the anouncement 6 weeks prior to the album release and the lead single 5 weeks before tells me all I need to know. They are sending the song for official impacts next week, which means the radio updates will only get even bigger then. This is all aimed to explode mid/end July, trust me on that.

This is serving DSN type of rollout

Yall are to eager to achieve a peak within the first week.

Imho releasing the MV next week makes much more sense.

Then a "Special with Beyonce" like the one Adele did during album release is absolutely sufficient as well.

The goal needs to be to make sure BMS has its peak DURING album release, so in 4-5 weeks. Not now

I disagree. I want it to hit no.1 or it’s peak before album release. Because I have a feeling that one of those album tracks might go no.1 when said album is released

Seeing how Planet Her or Future Nostalgia or Sour faired, it's safe to say that an album drop doesn't have to be the end of the era. It's very possible to have a successful lead single going into the album release (DSN, Kiss Me More, and Driver's Licence) and STILL maintaining that status during album release and having a smooth, natural transition to single #2 (BMH, Need To Know and Good 4 U).

Like honestly, if this damn video has the dance craze my SOUL feels is coming.

We are in for it girls.

I would prefer that she has one other song out during album's week or one week before to let BMS breathe. A more spread out IASF. Ideally a different genre : country or RnB but another House's song works too.

The song might have its biggest streams the first week of album's release anyway or close to it, it has happened with Blinding Lights or Drake's singles.

Waiting for that week to be its peak will just make it harder for other songs to breathe and have a chance at becoming hits.

But it matters little, we can't influence her plans.

This!! I’d rather have it reach its full potential sooner rather than later. The video needs to be out soon

The difference though is that all of those albums were the breakout albums from those girls, so of course there was more interest in post-album release singles since they were still establishing themselves as huge stars.

Name recent albums/eras from artists at the level of Bey who were able to have big success with post-album release singles.

But Bey is an anomaly and an undisputed and respected legend who's just anounced her return to POP music, thus Pop radio and Pop stans all around the world celebrating this return.

Ok let's make a good comparison:

Hung Up was a great lead and the dominant song going into COAD. After the album got released, Sorry still managed to have great success, Get Together became a song that further contributed to the album's success and Jump was the encore basically.

If that's the template, I still stand by the fact that the rollout is great so far simply because the reception is great and allows for this song to have longevity.
Bey didn't have such a reception for a lead single in over a decade - they should truly aim for longevity and a major hit rather than a big first week and then nada.

feels like dream what we're getting another commercial era :gaycat6:

The video needs to come. If radio keeps playing it then the song will probably peak in the week of the album release.

the song being stable and global is amazing.

please give us a video and performances queen :gaycat6: we are begging

There’s definitely better examples. All 3 weren’t even second singles

Deja Vu was a single before G4U

Physical was a non-USA single before BMH

And iirc NTK didn’t get radio treatment until after You Right so technically it was third single, no?

edit: quoted the wrong post lmfao mess now it won’t let me requote

Also, Break My Heart, Good 4 U and Need to Know were all released before their parent albums came out.

The Madge example is nice but also from 15+ years ago when obviously post-release singles were way more common. My whole point was that the streaming era has made it much harder to see success with singles released after the album is out when everyone can just stream whatever songs they want, whether they’re singles or not.

Im not saying the video shouldn't come out soon, but some are literally having a meltdown because she quite likely won't do anything during the BETs or so.

If the video comes out next Friday with an anouncement/teaser before that, then Imma be happy

Then use the IVP launch July 7th to incorporate BMS again and we're set till Renaissance

Edward Enniful said on IG that the whole album is dance. I think the country themed stuff will be Act 2. That being said I’m sure she’ll have lots of dance variations on the album like house/disco etc.

@*-ChriZ-* I don't want the momentum to go down that's why I wanted a performance and video. If it can remain stable without both then great.

I get that, but the way I see people responding to BMS so far, the way radio responds, the way media responds to the direction.. I am really convinced and confident that BMS will be her biggest hit since Drunk In Love (minimum)

I think the video needs to be released no later than Tuesday. It’s 2022 and videos no longer have the effect that they do in past, especially for western acts. I still stand by the fact that we need get BMS at its peak before album release. The streams for BMS alone shows me that her album is going to so well on streaming platforms and that may allow for a cute album track no.1.
