I’m so happy for Beyoncé, to be honest I really thought her pop commercial appeal was pretty much dead & gone after the “4” era, thankfully I was wrong :clap3:

I'm more excited she's finally gonna have fun again. I really think she's going to have a blast this era and its going to reflect in the performances and everywhere else.

Lemonade had to be a really vulnerable and heavy era for her

Don’t get me wrong, she still got hits with her more alt R&B/trap phase but they were kind of local hits, god.. the last remotely POP global smash I can remember from her was single ladies, not dragging cause she clearly didn’t need pop hits to thrive :clap3:

This is it.

This is how I feel too, it sounds like a remix of a Beyonce song that someone put together in Garageband. Her voice is definitely clashing with the production.

Her voice doesn’t suit this sound, at least on this song. It be might different on other songs on the album so let’s see.

I have to agree, ultimately. I think its her overuse of growls these days. I feel a silkier voice like for example Kelly has, as everyone is saying, would suit it better :celestial5:

But I'm still enjoying it. It just has the feeling of being a remix of an r&b song

She’s really reclaiming her white base! :jonnycat:

It's going to be a slow build for this instead of instant because she really left them behind ten years ago :dies:

Yes. We Gaga fans we exaggerated her sales from her debut to make her look good. That's not an hyperbole tho, thats a straight up lie.

Gaga not leaving your brain...... literally unhinged :deadbanana2:

She's had plenty of global hits since Sasha unless you're referring to a pure pop global hit

Not of the same magnitude obviously as SL is literally eligible for diamond but that doesn't take away from their success

Oh yes & absolutely, her album sales WW post 4 era in general are very impressive especially Lemonade, Beyoncé is after all more of an album seller at best.

Right? The dummies in here thinking she's "going back to pop music" when she's still releasing unapologetically black music.

I mean lbr pop music has always been taking its cues and appropriating black music and culture.

Trap, house and the EDM wave, r&b. Bey doing pop means shes still repping for her girls!

The only time pop music probably will not be taking anything from black culture is if they start making bardcore medieval pop songs.

Anyways after a lot of listens Ms. Freedia's chants really hype me up when I was in the gym earlier. Release your anger, release your job! GETS ME SO HYPED! :wanda:

A club and radio staple I fear!

She didn’t leave them behind. The music landscape changed. R&B artists as a whole suffered in the 2010’s. R&B including Pop infused R&B was no longer mainstream.

Exactly. One of the main reasons 4 flopped for her standards. She was doing r&b while Rihanna was doing eurodance and Katy was doing Max Martin while Gaga was giving RedOne left and right.

Among her r&b peers like Ciara, Bey was the only one that really survived that wipe out of r&b artists. Rihanna has always been more pop than r&b (dare I say among the 2000s onwards MPG only Bey and Ariana have rlly been delving into their own r&b subgenres the most)

The song still growing on AM in a bunch of European countries that have “never heard of her” according to members on here. It’s so funny to me. I guess the new excuse will be they’re checking out this unknown new dance artist called Beyoncé

And in the long run 4 ended up being 4x platinum eligible while other albums stalled. It all paid off.

There's nothing R&B about 2010s Rihanna :rip:
