I picked up a copy earlier and it's the exact same thing that's online, where we sure we were getting a longer article? :chick3:

Thank god she's stopped trying to be Nelson Mandela

I want her to make us dance this era.

I love the new track already.

I feel like this is a fun, relaxed effort that isn't trying to forcefully break any mold, which culturally seems intentional.

There's so much chaos happening right now and she's done everything practically to do, so she's not trying to break any new ground. Which I get and seems appropriate at this point in her career and at this point in time.

It's tough to do proper homages to 90's house while still sounding fresh, with lyrics that aren't fussy and straightforward but not too cheesy. There's a way to take the genre and subgenres (especially from the UKG label from that decade) as a reference and make it feel fresh, which the initial wave of artists in the mid-2010's such as Disclosure did really well. I'm a little sad about this after listening about a dozen times as I did expect more but it is solid.

The references in vibes, vocal, production and/or lyrics to Robin S.' "Show Me Love", Ultra Nate's "Free", Black Box's "Everybody Everybody", and Crystal Waters' "100% Pure Love" are obvious.

It has warmed up to me though and it's certainly better than a lot of other MPG house efforts (not to be confused with those that did disco-based tracks).

I give this right now a 7 out of 10 but if Top 40 starts picking it up, its infinitely better than most of what's being played at the moment which I'm desperate for while on errands, etc. so by default I'll bump it up to an 8 out of 10. I'll probably get sick of it though and will bump it back to a 7.

The people who are calling it generic/not revolutionary are cracking me up. None of Bey's last 4 leads were particularly innovative or different.

XO/DrIL, Spirit & Formation were just good singles. Formation & Spirit were deemed ground breaking because of their VISUALS. DrIL/XO were deemed ground breaking because of the RELEASE of the album. I think once the visual drops for this song, we'll see it all tied together. I don't have any doubt the Queen will deliver.

I bet the video will have big viral moments

I love this song but I am just going to quickly say Gaga and her team were so dumb not releasing sour candy as an official single. Since Beyoncé new single screams mega smash hit and both songs have similiar structure and vibe imo.

anyways I am here for a return to edm/dance music dominating mainstream billboard charts again like in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Plus it feels like Dua lipa, lady Gaga, drake and now Beyoncé have laid the foundation for a return to dance music being trendy again.
