Idk why everyone is rushing to find the “worst song” on the album. Does it ever cross yall minds that… there doesn’t HAVE to be a bad song? :rip:

And there isn’t.

You get it :clap3:

Church Girl and Move are definitely the ugly ducklings.

The vocal stacks on CUFF IT are masterful.

Cuff It tanked on TTH, looks like they replaced it with Alien Superstar :soda:

So are they planning to release the visuals once this album is dead on charts? :doc:

Really? The last minute or so is my fave part of the song (including the "that's that summer" part too). I love her vocals at the end during the "oh baby" section, that makes it for me.

I think if it had had a climax, it wouldn't have worked so well in the album becuase the song perfectly flows into ALL UP IN YOUR MIND without it needing to inherit any of the instrumental of the song itself.

She did something similar in some way with Hold Up and Don't Hurt Yourself where Hold Up always plodded forward musically and is begging for a release and just when we think we'll get it with the Countdown sample, she switches it off and its back to the same plodding as before. The release isn't until we get to the next song with Don't Hurt Yourself, and I see THIQUE's use of such switches and teases as part of her overall interest in making albums full works, suites of emotion, rather than just seeing it as indivdiaul, contained songs. Beyoncé is playing with the notion of a traditional song on this album a lot, changing the tempo or the texture of the song in a curve that makes it feel more like cinematic pop than commercial.

You’re totally right. Maybe that explains why I’m not a huge Hold Up fan either, while I love Don’t Hurt Yourself cause it just goes OFF. I mostly listen to tracks, and only occasionally listen to full albums. So I wish the song ended differently, but I’ll settle for a great remix

I love Church Girl but Alien deserved the #1 spot on NMF.

Yes, completely. It was #1 everywhere for no reason. :rip:It's concerning how difficult it is for them to pick the rights songs to push. In 3 weeks, Church Girl, SR and CI have been pushed way more than AS and the latter is pulling ahead in every single streaming platform.

Every single second of this album is designed and created with an intention. The end of Thique is designed to help the transition into AUIYM easier on the ears. She even mentions being all up in your mind during the end of Thique.

If it went off at the end, the transition would seem jarring to me.

I can’t say I dislike any song on the album. I tend to skip Church Girl because I’m not in the mood to listen to it most of the time.

Anyway, my definitive ranking:

1. Plastic Off the Sofa

2. Alien Superstar

3. All Up In Your Mind

4. America Has a Problem

5. Virgo’s Groove

6. Summer Renaissance

7. Break My Soul

8. Pure/Honey

9. Cuff It

10. Cozy

11. Move

12. Heated

13. Thique
14. Energy

15. I’m That Girl

16. Church Girl

But what a ******* album this is. It’s an amazing body of work and the fact that Acts II & III might be even better???? :jonny: I can’t even imagine!

You're insinuating it's anywhere near being "dead on the charts"?

Huh? Very far from what I meant.

The visuals are rumoured to be dropping very soon, so why are you thinking they're going to wait until the album is dead before releasing them?

Okay? That's good then. I don't follow these rumors.

I said that to point out that the visuals should have already been dropped by now. Seem like you're a person who take offense on everything.

Taking offence, because I'm questioning your comment? :skull: Wrong way round, sis.

That definitely was not only a question but you're trying to insinuate malice in that post of mine you quoted. Don't act dumb.

Insinuating malice ≠ taking offence. You can stop reaching now.

Really coming from you? I have to laugh. All I have done for Bey was to support her since this era started so stop putting malice in my post.
