I really wish Thique didn't fizzle down at the end, and that she instead had decided to finish it with a climax. As the song grows through those awesome parts with "that's that summer, thats them hummers"... I'm just getting more and more pumped, and then it fades into the "oh baby". Imagine if it just went HAM at the end. Can't wait to hear the remixes on that one, I need a dirty ass deep house remix

Really? The last minute or so is my fave part of the song (including the "that's that summer" part too). I love her vocals at the end during the "oh baby" section, that makes it for me.

 

I think if it had had a climax, it wouldn't have worked so well in the album becuase the song perfectly flows into ALL UP IN YOUR MIND without it needing to inherit any of the instrumental of the song itself.

 

She did something similar in some way with Hold Up and Don't Hurt Yourself where Hold Up always plodded forward musically and is begging for a release and just when we think we'll get it with the Countdown sample, she switches it off and its back to the same plodding as before. The release isn't until we get to the next song with Don't Hurt Yourself, and I see THIQUE's use of such switches and teases as part of her overall interest in making albums full works, suites of emotion, rather than just seeing it as indivdiaul, contained songs. Beyoncé is playing with the notion of a traditional song on this album a lot, changing the tempo or the texture of the song in a curve that makes it feel more like cinematic pop than commercial.
