Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 I feel like these 3 acts of Renaissance is a way for Bey to reintroduce herself into streaming era and it's really smart move from her tbh No wonder she hasn't release any visuals
MrPiggyMoka Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 If Alien Superstar didn’t have that woman speaking right before that godly outro (we paint a certain way,…) it would be my favorite on this album. But that spoken part really ruins it for me. I will never understand why she loves putting random people speaking in her best songs. Make it make sense!
sillycilla Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Pretty sure if that were released to radio it would be removed.
Doogle Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 I’m really trying not to let the songs burn out but I’ve just listened to America Has A Problem 6 times in a row and can’t get enough I have to wake up in 6 hours but I can’t get it out my head. I haven’t been so hooked on a song in years, literal years And this is just the start because there’s so much for me to enjoy in the other 14 new songs still

simon Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 I’ve listened to Break My Soul 10x today! This song will have legs!
simon Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 I’m still laughing at Parkwood thinking Church Girl & Summer Renaissance was gonna be the hits off the album when Cuff It & Alien Superstar was right there.

"Church Girl" is a hit...urban is taking it & 3rd song to clear 100k units in under a week

It served #1 - OUT.

Playing devil's advocate, what if...it was Bey. Artists are notorious for not reading the room or having confusing favorite tracks versus what the public like. So, given how much power she wields, it's possible she pushed for Summer Ren. Just an alternate take. I also sense that they are testing different songs on different platforms as a means of a) giving the album at large diverse exposure and b) use the data to inform their next step. All that aside, it's still pretty wild to not jump behind Cuff It and/or AS full throttle given the immediacy of their popularity. Manifesting the prevailing of common logic. Pandora Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 the 1-2-3-4-5 punch from thique to summer renaissance is the most legendary musical moment in the history of music and the universe

I watched a couple of reaction Videos and there are certainly a lot of gay, black people who adore Church Girl and put it as their fav track. So maybe her advisors were just those people who vibe with that. It truly isn't that deep in case Team Bey is willing to go with the flow and arent stubborn with what they thought would stick
sillycilla Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 People and their terrible takes on AS. None of those songs mentioned were as viral or melodic as AS. Stop comparing it to subpar popular album cuts as opposed to other unconventional songs that have actually smashed. And as proven many fan faves have actually come to hit when the artist listened anyways.

I agree. I think AS, if successful (as it deserves to be), will be one of those text book cases that highlight how virality and the internet can override the power of radio. Aa a radio song, AS simply does not work in its current form. I'll keep saying it, it'd need proper radio edit: after the iconic spoken DJ intro, it needs to go straight into "I'm too sexy" chorus and then verses from there. In its album form, it literally doesn't fit into the flow of other radio songs it would be sandwiched between and it would likely be dropped by programmers once the initial hype wears off. People can point to viral songs like Lizzo's About Damn Time, but that objectively is as cookie-cutter of a radio track as it gets. The virality just gave it the exposure it needed to catch on. As a viral song, it totally works and could really fly. The rules above do not apply and IMO it's the reason a lot of Drake's "whatever" tracks manage to make such a splash on the Hot 100. Outside of his big-big hits, radio isn't even his thing. Streaming is. Reminding that there are many ways to win.
