Beyoncé - 'RENAISSANCE'

Y’all might say I’m crazy but I know exactly why I love this album so much now and it’s becoming my fav of hers :

every single time I discover a new album of Bey, I feel exactly like « omg I can’t wait for her to perform the song she’s ton KILL it ». But then, after the concert/live performance, the studio version sounds SO flat to me (I love Formation to death but can never listen to the studio version after hearing the Homecoming version for example).

With RENAISSANCE, the songs are SO WELL PRODUCED but so « RAW » at the same time I don’t know how to explain but I feel like these songs are ALREADY TALKIN TO ME as if I was listening to a live album. The songs are SO ALIVE and CRAZY I still think « omg I want her to perform this album on stage » but this time to actually see the show, not to hear the « live arrangement » of the songs does that make it sense?

This album is pure perfection I’m literally only listening to this these days…

I'll take a crack at this. :smitten:

× Best Chorus: Cuff It

× Best Verse: I'm That Girl (V2)

× Best Buildup: Summer Renaissance (the trance-like chords/harmonies on the words "trance" and "chance" before the chorus)

× Most Euphoric Moment: Alien Superstar ? (The outro with "solar" and "supernova" that sounds MJ "Off The Wall"-esque)

× Best Outro: Thique (the segue to "All In Your Mind")

× Most Fun: Heated (her chanting lol)

× Most Club-Ready: Energy

× Best Collaboration: Grace Jones (Move)

× Most Surprising: All Up In Your Mind

× Most Ambitious Concept: Pure/Honey

× Weakest Link: America Has A Problem

× Best Sample: Church Girl (working with The Clark Sisters record & Jay-Z's main producer No I.D. to create a timeless, hip-hop influenced soul record was BANG ON)

× Most Adventurous: Virgo's Groove

× Most Anticipated Video: Pure/Honey (the choreography)

× Best Vocals: Plastic Off The Sofa

× Best Lyrics: Cozy (Brown Skin Girl's younger, more progressive cousin)

× Best Instrumental: Pure/Honey

× Nastiest Song: Virgos Groove

× Best Transition: Energy -> Break My Soul

× Best Song: Alien Superstar ?

I think Bey is trying to sell the album, not a bunch of quick singles. SR is much better representation of REN and that's why she chose it instead of Cuff It.
