Radio needs RUTH

Streaming and radio seems lower than I expected. Is there a reason why the numbers aren’t higher ?

Nielsen uses different calibration compared to Mediabase. Personally I used around the same airplay numbers (1.9 million), but bigger streams: 31 million, and 28.9 million streams for GFU.

Ah I got it that makes sense.

and I must be behind the times, cos I would have expected the top radio songs to be between 100-200 AI, or is radio just weaker than it was years ago too? The streaming is average I guess I’m used to seeing the 40-60s big steaming numbers - but these must be the typical numbers.

Yes, radio listenership has progressively decreased in recent years, especially due to the pandemic (most people hear radio while driving), we're seeing the lowest audience numbers for a #1 this century right now.

And about streaming... Streams have also got lower, BB has changed the way streams are counted (only official YouTube accounts allowed), YouTube itself has lost importance when it comes to music. Overall consumption has been very low this year, and it looks like people are more interested in music of past years. Nowadays, pulling 40M+ streams is actually very huge, 25-30M been the average.
