SylMacPer Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Dark Horse It was basically sabotaged by Katy herself and it went #1 without a performance or a video! A MOMENT!
HausofArtpopII Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 although ik this says the least promo imma have to say Single Ladies. that was a destined SMASHA from the moment that video started being filmed.

KillingYourCareer Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Dark Horse. It didn't only smash on its own to the point they were forced to change their single plans for the Prism era, it also killed Katy's uncle and ruined her birthday party!
Aramis Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) Check on It. Not a single televised performance and it was one of the biggest radio hits of the year, reach #1 Hot 100; Digital Songs, Pop Songs, Rhythm and R&B/Hip-Hop charts + top 10 at the year-end chart. Edited June 7, 2022 by Aramis

ariananext Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Thank U, Next went #1 with 5 days of tracking and no music video. 7 Rings also was on TTH for only 30 days and got no performance until one year later. Drivers License is another example, although it got pretty massive promo afterwards, it smashed before it even started.

Nightingale Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I feel like I remember Set Fire to the Rain smashing without performances or a music video. Pretty much any Adele song
Blank Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Dark Horse is probably the most, given that it smashed despite Katy not wanting it as the second single 7 Rings and Hello also come to mind
OrgVisual Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Dark Horse Love On The Brain Make You Feel My Love Organic MSG-free hits
Europe Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Dark Horse by far. Also, hello got a huge amount of industry support. It was simultaneously playing on all radio stations. Of course it was a hit (also the last good song she released)
UnusualBoy Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Scream & Shout? I don't think it was performed anywhere. Adele's Set Fire To The Rain, it didn't receive any performances at its peak.
Arcadius Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I feel like Rih didn't put a lot of effort into Needed Me and it was a smash.
UseYourIllusion2002 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Rescue Me wasn't even planned to be released as a single. The Immaculate Collection was supposed to only have one single (Justify My Love) but radio stations in the USA kept playing Rescue Me, despite them not even releasing the song to radio. It debuted on the Billboard Radio Monitor (the new radio chart compiled by Nielsen Soundscan) the week the album was released (and a month before Justify My Love even reached #1). Rescue Me reached #6 before it was even released as a single and then Sire finally released the song and it debuted at #15 on the BBH100, the highest debut by a female artist at the time. But because the song was released so late as a single, it had already fallen down the radio charts so it only reached #9 on the H100. If it was released properly to radio and record stores since the beginning, I wonder if it would've gone #1.

istan4badgalriri Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 probably Love on the Brain: #5 on the H100, 5x Platinum, 900M streams on spotify with: no music video, zero TV promo after it became a single, 30M spotify playlist reach at its peak, no cheap tactics etc.
