Just wondered what everyones thoughts on it are? I'm not familiar with the source material but from what I've seen it looks good. I think you'll like it. It's pretty easy to follow and unlike "The Witcher" you don't need to be familiar with the source material to know what's goin on.
Konril Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Finished it all. Wow, that was amazing, the adaptation that I've been waiting for. The Diner scene, Hob, Death, Desire... Please make more season and just finish the series. It's too good not to. Please, Netflix please.
Hector Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 A global smasha Netflix needs to give it that S2 renewal, STAT!

Mamamo Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 I loved this show omg. Miss Lucy, death and desire ATE and I need more of them. I low key hated Rose
Lyrical Liar Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Episode 5 when Spoiler The diner guy's like "I like coming over to your house to have dinner with you and your son and after dinner I GO UP TO HIS ROOM AND I **** HIM- Episode 6 was just *chef's kiss*! Spoiler When Hob looks up and sees Dream in the new pub and Dream's face just breaks into the CUTEST ****** SMILE, shshdhshfhfhshs The storyline with Death and why she's so good with the humans (as Dream noticed) was lovely. Heartbreaking but lovely! Oddly enough it gave me some perspective about life! The parallel between death and immortality was excellent! HOWEVER (don't click if you haven't seen beyond 6)... Spoiler The Rose Walker storyline during the last few episodes was meh. I was intrigued by all the Corinthian stuff on the side + Stephen Fry becoming visibly confused doing the rounds during the "cereal" convention was hilarious. But I just couldn't connect with Rose and Lyta's actresses. Their line deliveries felt so clunky and forced. Apparently Lyta is supposed to be super important in the later seasons (if they're made) so I hope the actress grows on me.
drivers license Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 omg ATRL living for this? the last time i checked, the trailer looked kinda cheap for its budget like it was released in 2009 but now i wanna check it out

Monster Megamind Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 1) the whole story is so meta.... I wonder if casual viewers would have the patience with it 2) I did not read the comics so are all the characters that are queer, actually queer in the comics too? Because there were so MANY... People might think, the show went too 'woke' 3) Corinthian aka boyd Holbrook is such eye candy... So lucky that 2 twinks got to kiss him.... Uhhhh 4) overall a very decent watch.. Episode 5 is so well written! Award worthy even!
CallumDavies Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 I’m about halfway through - it’s really good. The episode with Death is really profound and emotional.
Donquizote Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Tom Sturridge is so HOT. Reminds me of a guy I hooked up with 2 years ago
Eóghan Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Episode 6 is the peak of the season one of the best episode of TV I've seen this year. Then it's downhill from there, the last half of the season is weak. It was crescendo from ep. 1 to 6. I don't get it, why couldn't they keep up with the quality for the last 4 episodes? Still super excited for season 2.

Although not stated explicitly, Corinthian targeted gay men in the comics because he is a homosexual. Johanna Constantine was John Constantine in the comics and is bisexual. Desire is noted as brother/sister and is bisexual and genderfluid in the comics but noted as non-binary in the show. Judy in the diner is a lesbian. Chantal and Zelda (the goth spider women), although not explicitly stated are lesbians. Hal is gay and works as a drag queen. Later in the comics we will meet a transwoman and another lesbian that are prominently featured in the A Game Of You storyline. Since they already know all the queer characters, the "too woke" crowd from the comic book readers' standpoint are probably those that probably take issue that some of the characters got gender and race swapped. Death from a pale goth girl to a black woman, Lucien from a white man to a black woman, Johanna Constantine replacing John Constantine, Lucifer Morningstar being female.
Konril Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 The way they toned down the Diner scene compared to the comics but still gave me anxiety and dread throughout. Episode 5 and 6 were truly the best. Hob and Dream.

But it definitely felt like an overload of gay characters while watching live...poor Netflix is going to be blamed by the normies though... Edited August 11, 2022 by Monster Megamind
Khal Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 That waitress in Episode 5 looked kinda young to have a 21+ son, so when the guy said he was going to **** her son, I thought he was a pedo at first and I was horrified I enjoyed it, but idk it kinda felt too safe considering the source material? I really hope there's a season 2 and they go all out, because this season felt like they were easing the audience into the show and world building a bit.
