Xtina's singles had much wider appeal in the US, and she was seen a much serious singer

their debut songs in comparison GIAB vs BOMT, the former is not polarizing and had wider market.

Britney's songs werent released into physicals by her label, so not to affect the album sales (not sure about this, idk what the BBH100 formula back then if it was purely radio or sales of physical copies of each song was included)

It's quite simple. The songs had a CD release when they were peaking on radio, which gave them big boosts on the charts. Just take a look at the songs' position on BB before peaking:

What A Girl Wants: 11 - 1

I Turn To You: 17 - 3

Come On Over: 11 - 1

From BOMT, other than the lead, only FTBOMBH had a CD release, and you can notice on its big jump on the charts (from #52 to #14).

and wagw and coob were remixed. They are not the same versions they are on the album

I don't think it had anything to do with appeal. Both of the lead singles were outstanding and super catchy songs and charted on their strength and popularity. Britney's further singles didn't get physical releases, so they were handicapped and only peaked solely through their pop radio strength, which was enough for Top 10/20 peaks, but not further than that. Xtina's team released the physical CDs at the perfect time and catapulted them to #1s. Without those physicals they would have charted lower than Britney's singles. Xtina got hits on paper, Britney's songs were bigger in reality and are still pulling much much better numbers on all metrics.

This is not true at all :rip: Christina would have still charted higher than Britney even if she didn’t have physical singles. It’s not like Britney did better on airplay. Christina had way higher Hot 100 airplay peaks than Britney.

All Christina’s singles went Top 20 on Hot 100 airplay, while Britney had a song peak at #53 :rip: Genie In A Bottle peaked at #1 on Hot 100 airplay so it would have been a Top 10 song regardless, while Baby One More Time only peaked at #8, and with other singles getting good airplay and physical releases at the time, it probably would have missed The Hot 100 Top 10 if not for the physical release :deadbanana:

By all metrics, they meant streaming numbers. While Xtina's hits are sadly forgotten, ...Baby One More Times doubles Genie In A Bottle in streaming, both on Spotify and YouTube. Sometimes is ove 100M on both platforms, while Come On Over, I Turn To You and What A Girl Wants have tragic stats. Crazy is coming for 100M and already did on YouTube. Born To Make You Happy was not released in the US yet it is on the same level as those #1s on streaming. :toofunny3:

The deflection :lmao:when he was talking about the The Hot 100 and how the physical releases affected charting and I responded to that , and then you just went on some random tangent about something else :deadbanana:

"are still pulling"

He wasn't referring to the Hot 100 alone.

Take the L and go.

The only one who needs to take an L is you :lmao:We were talking about The Hot 100 positions back then and what affected the charting and streaming wasn’t even a thing back then, so why would that even be part of the conversation? :lmao: And even if he meant that, I wasn’t even discussing that at all, and was only talking about how Britney wouldn’t have charted higher regardless since her airplay was so low, so your random deflection still makes no sense :lmao:

I wasn't talking about the lead singles, but the follow up singles. If Xtina's label didn't release the physicals like Britney's, she wouldn't have bagged an extra 2 #1s either. Her peaks would have looked similar to Sometimes/Crazy/FTBOMBH

This is true. For whatever reason, radio wasn't playing Britney nearly as much as they should've.

Oh wow

OT: It doesn't really matter since the lead BOMT single alone is bigger than all of CA's singles combined :skull:
