I love Tevin to death and think he is one of the finest male vocalists we've ever witnessed but his career didnt even last as long as this wait for Normani's album so to challenge her about longevity feels a bit bogus unfair. For it's genre during this time, it did very very well and dominated Urban radio callouts for 6 months. There also just hasn't been much follow up, which is the biggest issue here, not Wild Side's quality or success.

What are you meaning by career, cuz his 1st hit was in 1990 & his last in 95 so no

Anyways what does Tevin have to do with Normani?:rip:

I already know Wild Side did well on radio. I was talking about it's streaming longevity which ultimately matters in the end

That mentality is horrible in the long run. She’s gonna have like 2 albums in her entire career at that rate. In my opinion, a musician who doesn’t release music isn’t a musician. She is a model who also sings. Same with Chloe.

Artists like Beyoncé worked their asses off and never said “Imma take 3 years off at the beginning of my career to craft my sound so I get an 100 on metacritic”. She wouldn’t have had a career. Your music grows with you and that’s what really creates a loyal, core fan base. These girls will never have longevity as artists.

This is true however that was 20 years ago. No one releases like this anymore and to even get a release date require so much more clownery than ever before. Budgets were enormous during DIL. These new artists don't get to just throw things out and not have to pay for it. They're reprimanded by their labels and then their careers are heavily tainted by social media calling them a flop for experimenting. It's just not an easy time to be a young pop artist.

One song determines she a flop? or are you holding her to a Dua Lipa pop standard that she never asked for?

Oh I thought you meant that none of her songs ever flopped, I was disagreeing with that

The way none of the fifth harmony girls (with the exception of Camilia) have released an album genuinely pissed me off, and that’s coming from a big fan of the group. :deadbanana4:

Like…what happened? I was (especially) rooting for Dinah and Normani and the former has just disappeared off the face of the earth and the latter keeps delaying the album. :deadbanana4:

My bad, 4 years! Always In My Heart was in 1994. I'm saying, you have no grace for her and are noting how bad she's doing because her song didn't last a year on a chart but if you can stand by Tevin who has never had that, then you could give her a bit more grace.

The usual obsessed haters struggling with the fact that Camila Cabello has three hit albums.

Anyway, take your time Normani, we're all perched!

"U Will Know" a top 40 hit was in 1995, plus the Goofy Soundtrack he's known for....

Normani & Tevin are not comparable. We're talking about streaming numbers. There was no extended streaming chart in the 90s:rip:

The ones that have no video sure and rightfully so. It just isn't the climate for that and she isn't big enough to coast off of a song with no visual. But I'm not going to hold her to Fair, Diamonds and Bad To You when DWAS, Love Lies, Motivation and Wild Side exist.

im not expecting it this summer she'll be saying fall next.

I was rooting for her & would support anything she released at one point.

But it’s been 4 years of lies. I’m done!

How can anyone stan this girl with how many times she’s played them. Have standards for yourself.

He has 2 words on "U Will Know". D'angelo the writer should take credit for that Top 40, not Tevin nnnnn. But I do believe Dandelion should've been #1 for 37 weeks.

Normani has a song with Josh Levi coming this Thursday and most likely  Calvin Harris on the 24th. Candy Paint the single could be coming this month as well .

normally really act like this will be the only album she'll release in her life.

chill. release it, take joy of it, be proud of it, and then do another one even better

it just needs to be good, solid!! not the best thing ever done in the world (and let's be honest? it won't be the best thing in the world anyway!!!!!! with the delay or not, as we can see with her recent singles.)

boring, boring, boring.

the "most people that think 2019 would be the best date" that she says on this interview were, in fact, right.

Yeah every successful girl has plenty of flops, the difference being that usually when they release a flop there’s a hit right around the corner to keep the momentum going

That doesn’t really go for a strategy where a single is released once every 8 months, so I hope Normani switches that pattern up in the near future

That's just that and everyone here will be tuning into the album when it does come so it doesn't really matter.

I guess she saw my thread and tried to end the lashings :bibliahh:

The I’m a perfectionist bs again :rip:

Also, not her shading other “unprepared” artists on stage :bibliahh:

Wasn’t she mad at the VMAs for not booking her? :rip:

He literally opens the song:skull:

It's not 2 words, he has multiple parts  lol

Anyways, anyone with a lead part on the song takes credit

You do this on the job? Unless you're a kpop act and spend years being a trainee, but that wouldn't even make sense in this case cause she 'debuted' in 2013. There's no such thing as artist development with 0 audience feedback cause what are you even developing if you don't know what to play off of? I think she thinks that she needs to debut as this perfect artist but that's not how it works, no one is expecting that from her and maybe even worse, no one might care at this point

Great point!

Gurl just say the label won't let you drop the album until you score a hit.

All of the 5H girls are on the struggle bus.  You are in denial if you say otherwise.  :rip:

I knew this from DAY ONE that this would happen when they started talking solo projects.  None of them were ready, not even Camila.

There is no such thing as "ready" ..you either have it, or you don't.. and if you don't... you better figure it out quickly because time is ticking and the GP have the attention span of goldfish.

Normani is already forgotten at this point. It's over. :michael:

This are all key buzz words for: Sabotage. Kelly literally used the same narrative about finding herself while they were pushing hard for Yoncé and diming her light so she wouldn’t blow up. If the label wanted her to release an album she would’ve had one during Motivation but the industry is trying to push her out. :biblio:

Not goldfish! :ahh:

I think people can be born ready, but there are def some stars that were weak upon arrival, but got it together quickly…

Won’t say any names, so I don’t start any stan wars

Since she’s my fav, I’ll at least say Doja wasn’t ready initially.  BUT she got it together quickly.  And she wasn’t afraid of releasing music, which was key in her getting it together.
