The movie was okay but i feel like Alex acting was surprisingly bad, he is a hottie but the acting was not believable, like the part where he say theres a cord pulling him towards Henry didnt feel credible and a lot others, it felt like he was just reciting the script, ill try rewatching it tonight

I'm sorry but this was so bad. Outside of the sex scenes they had absolutely no chemistry and most of the acting was comical. Plus they got together way too quick and it made no sense how they were crying over each other despite having zero emotional buildup :skull:

I thought they had great chemistry (maybe because I can't stop watching videos of them together on tiktok and they look so cute hahah) but I understand your point. However, I think the impression of no chemistry that you have is probably because of the build up. As you and many of us have said, the pace is horrible. Everything happens too fast. The book is far better in this sense. It makes their relationship feel more natural and authentic.

I actually thought they had great chemistry but yeah Alex acting was cringe (and Uma's was laughable, no wonder she has fallen hard from grace ) Nicholas was great though

Like how did Uma go from freaking KILL BILL to this????

I think the issue for me is Taylor Perez isn't a good actor and his character came across as very unlikeable and entitled to me. He showed no understanding of why Henry couldn't just abandon his life as a royal so easily. Nicholas Galitzine did a better job, particularly in the more dramatic scenes, but it only reinforced how weak Taylor Perez was when he was supposed to be serious. Plus the ending of Henry deciding to leave his family because of a short relationship feels wild to me lmao.

i love how everyone is saying that there is either no chemistry or the hottest chemistry of all time

well everything political - social related it's how a cool liberal white girl talked on twitter in 2017. Now they would call her annoying.

So the movie kinda feels like 7 years late.

Then can be cute to have a gay love story is just very light and wattpad level of writing. But i can assecure there are a lot of lgbt movies are not about death, aids and families hating their sons, and they are romantic and cute by being also more real.

This stuff is made for straight girls.

I really enjoyed the movie, it’s nice to see a queer rom-com that doesn’t end tragically — like someone mentioned.

It had all the themes of a traditional one but with a twist.  I thought the leads played their roles well and had chemistry.

Girl, this ain't true lol

Which part? Podcast came out days ago and there’s a deep dive somewhere I don’t care enough to go find, but there are a bunch of pictures of that Garrett guy with Zakhar Perez spanning something like 7 years, he’s spent holidays and vacations with Zakhar Perez and his family, and there was a bunch of other **** that makes it very obvious they’re together. Idk, I’m sure it comes up if you Google it. I don’t really gain much in making that up and he’s such a terrible actor that I would have rather the straights have him, anyway.

Lol, a podcast cannot be your source. If he's not out, then he's not gay/bi.

This was a beautiful little film. I like how it feels small in scope despite the multiple different settings, that's a credit to how well the main actors grounded the characters.

Always love seeing Uma.

It’s a Variety podcast, which is an industry trade, where Nicholas went into detail about being a straight person playing a gay character and talking it through with the director. You cannot be serious right now.

Quote

For the record, Galitzine identifies as straight. “I think it’s a very sensitive subject,” Galitzine says about authentic casting on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “I think the important thing for me was to let Matthew know that I loved who Henry was as a person, and I empathized with him as a character, and I just wanted to try and deliver as honest a performance — never a caricature — as I could.”

If you somehow got confused and for some reason think the podcast was about Zakhar Perez, I’m personally not someone that expects every person who lives an out life to make a Lance Bass-ass announcement in 2023, but YMMV.

I've watched it 3 times already and I will do it again for sure :skull: It may not be an Academy Award contender, but turns out it was exactly what I needed. LOVE IT.

gonna give this a watch tonight, better be good :gaycat4:

It annoyed me that many of the scenes were performed on a green screen which felt like it cheapened the movie. It probably would have made more of an impact if there were more shots on location. But other than that, it was a great movie. It also should have been a series. At some point there should be a directors cut though

Damn I’m sad Nicholas is straight. I’m crushing on him so hard right now lol.

This was really bad :rip: The First Son was hot, but a terrible actor. The Prince ate him

up

What was Uma Thurman doing in this? Are times that tough?

I really want to watch this but I just started reading the book and I don’t want to watch before I finish :WAP: trying to finish the book by Wednesday so I can watch.

tee, I am like 40 pages in though (started today) and a big part of the characters appearances so far is Alex being shorter than Henry but I don’t think that’s reflected in the actors from what I’ve seen.

But at least we can thank him for his service in making gay content, lol. Here's a quote from Popbuzz that mentions his queer roles so far, and one that's coming up after this.

Nicholas Galitzine has played numerous queer characters on screen. Nicholas stars as closeted gay rugby player Conor Masters in Handsome Devil. In Red, White & Royal Blue, Nicholas plays Prince Henry, who is gay, and he has also played a bisexual character called Timmy in The Craft: Legacy. Elsewhere, Nicholas is set to play a queer character in Mary & George opposite Julianne Moore.

The prince literally has THE gayest face ever. How is he not a faguette irl? :chick2:

Not saying anything about the guys in the film, but ofc people can be gay or bi even if they have not come out. It's a private thing. They've just chosen not to go public with it. Maybe you didn't mean it like that tho. But if you're arguing against speculating about people's sexual orientation then that's fair.

Watched it yesterday and cried a couple of times. I love the characters, both guys are so cute/hot, really excited to read the book now! :duca: Hoping it helps making fun-light-hearted gay romcoms more common.

It does feel rushed in the end, I hope we get that 3 hours cut eventually.

Im a bit of a chart geek, so here's some stats. The #redwhiteandroyalblue hashtag has 850M views on Tiktok (and it's gaining like 100M every day). And #Rwrb has 565M views. And #rwrbmovie 413M.

For comparison, #heartstopper videos have 12BN views but the first season came out over a year ago. So Rwrb is deffo going into billions too.

And in google searches worldwide, this has been getting more searches than The Summer I Turned Pretty with the new episode. And that's a mainstream show to compare with, so that's great. The first day was a bit slow (people didnt know it was out yet i guess) but now Rwrb is showing great longevity. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=now 7-d&q=Red white royal blue,Summer i turned pretty

This is a story about the son of the US president falling in love with a british royal. This was NEVER going to be a real story about real people :rip:

Just treat it as science fiction and you will appreciate it more for what it is :cm:
