Feanor Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 (edited) Ever since she started the era in late 2019, Dua Lipa has been serving so much with the "Future Nostalgia" era that it deserves an appreciation and celebration thread Starting with the 11 original tracks, that are the musical core of the entire era,… … to the acclaimed "Club Future Nostalgia", a remixed and re-imagined take on the album with a whole animated album visualizer, … … to ultimately "The Moonlight Edition", which expanded the musical cosmos of "Future Nostalgia" with additional songs _____________________ Dua also did not hold back when it came to promoting the album: A total of 10 international & region-specific singles across both album versions were pushed, each with a live-action and/or animated music video. She also gave many memorable live performances at awards shows and public events, including… … the 2019 EMAs … the 2019 AMAs … the Tonight Show … the 2020 New Year's Rockin' Eve … the 2020 AMAs … NPR's Tiny Desk concert … SNL … the 2021 Grammy Awards …and the 2021 BRIT Awards. And over the past 2½ years, Dua was not only covering many notable magazines left and right… … she could also be seen fronting advertisement campaigns for Evian, Pepe Jeans London, TRULY, Puma, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent _____________________ In terms of concert experiences, Dua did not disappoint either: Not only did she deliver the critically acclaimed Studio 2054, an online concert experience at the height of the pandemic… … she is also currently on the road for the Future Nostalgia Tour, a truly global concert tour with 109 planned shows across North America, Europe, South America & Oceania _____________________ And even with the "Future Nostalgia" era being almost over (outside of the ongoing tour), Dua keeps delivering with droplet singles, like… … "Cold Heart" … "Sweetest Pie" … "Potion" …and "Dance The Night" _____________________ While many people think music "eras" and long album campaigns are obsolete in the streaming era, Dua still went above and beyond to bring "Future Nostalgia" to life and turned it into a long-lasting pop culture moment Did Dua Lipa serve an era for the music history books with "Future Nostalgia"? BlackoutZone Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Whew this thread Literally so happy I got to live through it and experience it first hand as a stan. It's one of those eras that will be references by the gays for years to come, it's truly amazing the iconic pop girl format lives on thanks to Dua
Abracadabra Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Yes. It proved that a real "era" in the former sense of the word is still possible in the streaming era, it just requires more effort.
Villanelle Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 The era had no big LWYMMD or Wrecking Ball type of momentum so no. It had nothing exciting going on, it was just a string of tirelessly promoted singles and luckily two of them stuck.
gustavothehuman Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 She's an icon, she's a legend and she is TTHe moment!
Khal Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Seeing them all lined up together like that, the era did NOT have good single covers, yikes

You really come across like a sad pathetic loser that doesn't have any friends or hobby's Get some air and a proper life, it's just sad at this point. Like during the pandemic I had some slight sympathy but at this point I truly wonder if you are okay mentally. Go back to the Camila threads and maybe reflect on your life for a while damn. But to go back on topic This era is such a celebration of the old of the new, such a bundle of joy. It's so great to see a record label and a team working along with an artist to create such an amazing era with longtivity from the music to the musicvideos from the performances to the tour
hardbrit Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 She brought pop back. We need more artists like Dua Lipa if we want pop to survive.
Credit Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 truly! tragic that she still gets disrespected on a forum of homosexuals
raven Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 The fact that she did all of that during the height of a global pandemic too WHEW One of my favourite pop eras in a long time and it will definitely be one of the defining pop albums of the 2020s. People can drag all they want about "well she had 7 singles!! and re-releases!!" but she delivered a memorable, fully-realized and drawn out era with HITS, which is difficult to achieve in the streaming era. I, unfortunately, don't think she'll get the credit she deserves until years down the line but that seems to be the case most of the time.
LanaXtinaFan Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Legitimately an iconic pop era. It made her a worldwide superstar. This era will always be remembered as one of the greats, and will be a model for future pop girls to emulate. She did what needed to be done.
makeme Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 iconic era Really thankful I got to experience it + see her on tour twice

Digitalism Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I mean loved the music, the promo and it was sucessful But let's not act like this was a well handled era. Physical not being released in the US Break my heart being the single instead The we're good rerelease mess Flop again being chosen as a single instead of cool or pretty please The music being amazing and the promo saved the era. Managment was horrible.
Bimbo Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Whew the performance that SHIFTED her reputation as a performer. I remember seeing it everywhere.
Virgos Groove Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 What an amazing era this has been to follow. All the amazing singles, the acclaim, the performances, Studio 2054, the tour (which I assume is great too, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers), the magazine covers, the (extremely underrated) remix album, the respect she has gotten from veterans... Every time I think I overplayed the album, I go back and re-listen. It STILL feels as fresh as it did during that first month of quarantine. It's almost eerie how well-suited it is for the times we've been living. The escapism, the carefree nature... I love the fact that she didn't delay the album when lockdown hit. We needed an escape and she gave it to us. This album has been the soundtrack of my college years, since I was in my 1st semester when DSN came out. I'll end college next month, when I'll also see her live. It feels like a full-circle moment in a way

People forget just how short eras had become in 2019. TUN lasted what, 8 months? Billie was already releasing standalones less than a year after WWAFA dropped. Hollywood's Bleeding didn't get any new singles after October 2019 (the album came out in September ). FN was the first era in the streaming age to ressemble old-school eras (janet., True Blue, etc.). I remember when BMH became the 3rd single and people were saying "Well, there goes Levitating's chances of becoming a single". When Hallucinate got an animated video and CFN dropped not long after, people that was the closing out of the era. And, instead, we got LeBaby, Fever, Prisoner, the Grammy performance, Studio 2054, Real Groove, the Moonlight edition, Demeanor, Cold Heart, Sweetest Pie and now Potion. WHO is doing it like her? RihFenty20 Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 (edited) Yes, she snapped and did a full rebrand after taking some dance lessons and milking this era for what it’s worth. She continues to work hard, exhibit iconic behaviour and be THE MOMENT. Not everybody can have 10’000 successful songs from one album. I’m surprised she isn’t suffering from over saturation but then again, I expect nothing less from THE MOMENT. Edited May 26, 2022 by RihFenty20
Pop Art Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 It's kinda the best era of the streaming era (2016-present) so far to be honest.
Unknown User Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 OT: Absolutely one of the greatest female pop eras of all time
