Archetype Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) Her main career is being an IG model, no joke. Releasing one song per year makes you a freelance musician at best. She should honestly consider going to college, I think she'd be happier doing something that she can grow from vs something that she clearly is not passionate about. Edited May 20, 2022 by Archetype

Doja flopped at first but made a great album and worked her ass off to get where she is today. Her next era is gonna be massive with how popular she’s gotten. Normani needs to take notes.

I think the label is not supporting her anymore due to the underwhelming performances of her tracks and this is what is causing the massive delays. ugh so frustrating this doesn't make sense tho. any label would have made her release many more singles than she has (& never allowed fair to leave the studio) if they wanted a hit. also shelving albums in 2022 isn't really cost-effective anymore. all they have to do is upload it to streaming services and the little coin they make will obviously be better than no coin
mypaintoyou Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) She should just give it up she had a decent career with fifth harmony and as a feature in others Song But no one is here for her as a solo singer Even tho I love motivation song she should stick to modeling, which I think she does well! And to think she basically worked with everybody in 2019, and had around 72+ song writers and producers on her project including Tayla Parx, Max Martin, Boots, Big Freedia, Calvin Harris and Victoria Monet off the top of my head. Now she can’t say there’s no material to release Spoiler Link to the blind items? I never heard about the producers taking their songs back
nicholas Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 i know she got alot of anxiety about her work which is fair but damn girl release the damn album not every piece of work is going to be 100% perfect and the constant back and forth is just gonna make it worse
legendofthetour Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I feel bad for her, she needs to just accept that she’s never gonna have the Dangerously In Love solo debut album type moment. Her peers have all accepted that they basically need to underperform/flop BEFORE they become successful. We saw it with Doja and just recently with Jack Harlow, both of them completely doubled the success of their previous albums with their most recent albums and Doja’s next era will be HUGE. Chloe is probably gonna drop an album that won’t do crazy first week numbers but will create more opportunities for her to grow and experience more success. I wish Normani would just release her album and at least have something to build on going forward.

But that's all on Normani ? She's the one expecting to smash out of the gate by not putting herself out there and dropping a single/music video expecting it to smash right away and keep her afloat. Normani is with RCA, just like Tinashe was. But on the contrary, Tinashe was leaking her own songs and releasing droplets to keep people's attention, Normani isn't putting that kind of effort. She isn't really fighting for her career.

I was speaking more in terms of expecting both Chloe and Normani (and newer artists in general) to come out with a CIL/TikTok/Pon de Replay or I Kissed a Girl sized hit right out of the gate. That doesn't happen anymore unless the song goes viral on TikTok and even then it's not a guarantee. Otherwise, I did say that I don't think Normani specifically is working hard enough (or really at all) in the post. Edited May 20, 2022 by Obsession
Patient Zero Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 She's just not productive enough...maybe even lazy? Or just lacks talent and needs people around her to do stuff for her? Many artists release stuff outside their deals. Be it soundcloud or snippets. But she's not delivering anything.

I guess the difference is that Doja kept making music + didn’t care about commercial success. “So High” was a viral moment - even on its own without RCA. That’s how she got her deal, she went viral on SoundCloud. Her “team” wasn’t prepared to move on it…b/c she literally had no team lol. She continued to build an audience by connecting with them online and writing/producing music on Periscope/IG Live. She took advantage of the platforms she had, given the online hype she had. She was a commercial flop, but she kinda still used what she had. It’s a different kind of flop, when you have a major manager and label support (vs. not having any of that). I guess having their careers launched on TV kinda spoiled them a bit.

Heartbreak Prince Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I remember Normani stans telling us she would be slaying? Cultural reset? Huge hype? What happened? I wish her well, clearly music isn't for her because no-one cares. She can get coin from Instagram sponsors though.
manwhore Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 At my job, ppl that suck and or are lazy at work say things like that. They usually just don't have it and just blend in with the low tier bottom feeders. They use "my career is not my identity" as a scapegoat. Lol OK.
raven Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) As someone who's been a long-time fan of hers since 5H days, I honestly don't think it's in the cards for her anymore to become a "mpg" unless she DRASTICALLY changes her strategy and approach to releasing + promoting her music, which I realistically don't see happening. 4 years without an album, EP, or any single project to her name is pretty unacceptable especially considering how she's been saying the album is coming since the group disbanded and kept her fans (myself included) hanging on with empty promises. How're you gonna have 2 huge hits (Love Lies, DWAS), tour with the biggest pop star in the world, have massive industry backing, work with some of the most sought after producers (i.e. BOOTS, Calvin Harris, Max Martin, etc.), and not use any of that to your advantage for your debut album? New artists need to be releasing music constantly nowadays, even if it flops, and be more open with their fans on social media and whatnot, so that you can develop and build a connection with a growing audience. She, unfortunately, does not seem to care to do any of that in an age where it is a necessity. If it is, in fact, label issues then I do feel bad for her that they're stifling her development, but at this point I'm finding it hard to believe that if she wanted her music out there, it wouldn't be released. Similarly to how RCA artists like Doja and Tinashe would leak mixtapes/music or go on social media to post BTS footage of them recording + producing music, I feel like there's always a way to get your music out there.
