Like..at least half of ATRL several years back

now it's used pretty often, especially when LMs and Swifties stopped attacking it for stuff that Chamrtasters "fixed"

 

imo the formula's accuracy wasn't as bad before

but now the results make it more evident that something is wrong

 

Still a pretty good place to get some info on artists' stats somewhat, since it's pretty close to what the OG is (even with the accusations that MJD underrates figures and is biased)

They still need to fix South Korean free downloads/streaming farms and completely remove fabricated Chinese numbers. But it is a huge step in the right direction

This site is really making things up as it goes.

 

I'll still use it for raw data since that seems pretty accurate but CSPC is a bunch of fabricated nonsense and streams should never be compared/combined/converted to raw sales. They're completely different metrics. Plus, they clearly have no standardized way of weighing them.

Why is there such a massive change in the estimation on Chinese streams? The numbers i see for certain song when they had previous method (with Xiamoi streams as an Index figure) is almost 10 times different than the numbers they've estimated using QQ Music.

It’s good for a charting source to be malleable. Remember how the Official Charts Company accidentally posted a fake sales number for an album from The Beatles and then, instead of correcting it, just used the new number going forward? Stuff like that is way worse than updating formulas.

I don’t think it will be an automatic update. They’ll have to redo everyone’s numbers manually to adjust.

They do it based on revenue and so does the music industry. That's how certifications are now given.
