Taylor: The internet cancelled me and I nearly lost my career

Recommended Posts

Being cancelled on the internet is cancel culture, and in most cases it doesn't translate into real life. That's why Taylor did not lose her career, but she did get cancelled on the internet. So what does being cancelled on the internet mean? It means calling out a person on their wrong-doings in an attempt to tarnish their image, career, and reputation, and this is what happened to Taylor post-1989 to pre-reputation.

The “IsOverParty” hashtag, which is used when someone is getting cancelled, was literally birthed by “TaylorSwiftIsOverParty”. How can she not feel like her career was taking a hit when she was being the victim of witch-hunts and hate-trains over the silliest and smallest things that she was saying and doing? So much that she had to retreat from the public eye.

So yes, Taylor Swift did not get cancelled in real life, but she was cancelled by the internet and she has every right to feel like her career was nearly over. Also, being cancelled is not a competition. There is no need to bring up people who were “really cancelled”, because their cancellation does not invalidate Taylor's experience, especially when we remember it all too well (10 minute version) (taylor's version) (from the vault).

What does stanning Kim Petras have to do with Taylor Swift being an evil woman? Use your brain please. Kim Petras has gone through more than Taylor Swift ever has.

Girrrl you fave literally implied that Kesha is a liar and constantly defends and befriends Dr Luke and Larry Rudolph. THAT is some nasty evil woman behavior. Go back to stan Twitter and cry about **** Pop and her album getting shelved, again.

Taylor Swift is evil yet Kim is the one willingly working with a rapist, as if you have a sliver of moral ground to stand on, go away :deadbanana4:

I’m sorry that you think having positive experiences with a producer means that you support rape. Taylor Swift has never been “cancelled” and if you think she has then you’re just as bad as her :rip:

Yeah I'm done with the conversation now.

Enjoy your experience on ATRL as a rapist defender. You will surely find many unhinged users here who think the same! :heart2:

not sure if you're trying to say I'm a Taylor fan but I'm not :toofunny3:

also not sure if you're trying to antagonise someone but the replies and quotes to the original tweet mentioned in those articles are pretty intense as well. calling her a white nationalist and implying she's a Trump fan definitely doesn't read as a "usual joke with no or close to no actual ill intent" to me but to each their own I guess

Yeah, a few people commented on an article of a rich celeb saying a general bad year, with white supremacist marches etc, was the best year for her, that's expected, literally every celeb would and gets grilled possibly even more for statements like this. People in social media make fun of Britney for something as innocent as videos dancing in her house, will I say she's getting canceled or receiving a hate train? No, this is normal criticism the vast majority of celebrities receive, hate train would be similar to what happened to Britney in 2007. Taylor never had that, she, like pretty much all celebs, just had a phase she was a bit more picked on, but unlike most, she seems to enjoy portraying herself as the biggest victim the world has ever seen.

Girl there’s not much moral high ground to be claiming in this scenario when Taylor is about to be in a film directed by a self admitted abuser for Oscar clout, even after claiming she supported trans rights and in this very speech introduction was praised for “speaking out”

Also why is everyone here like "she was not cancelled or dragged like Janet or Britney" like please point me to where she did say that?

99% of you didn't even watch the speech and are just looking like fools in here because of this 5seconds joke.  :dies:

The way openly known OTHs, who dragged her for years are the ones saying her to shup up now tells enough.

The irony of it all :hoetenks:

OT: The way there was even a mural about her "career being over" in 2016 but users acting like nothing happened :rip:

For the seemingly deaf-blind OTH in the back, please go put on your reading glasses

People discrediting her experience with being cancelled by citing other artists, who’ve unfairly being cancelled too is giving the exact same energy as when Taylor’s sexual assault was diminished by people back in 2017 because it “wasn’t that bad as the assault of others” :rip:

OTHs seemingly lose all sense of reality and rationality whenever it comes to Taylor. The desperation to find something to drag her with really leaves its marks.

Not only was it bad enough that she showed up and stole all the shine from people who have poured their everything into this and their lives actually DEPEND on this just because she wanted to be a little adventurous and do something fun, but managed to speak and made it about her :dies: she’s down there with Nicki and Elon with their extreme narcissistic ego’s

Never forget when all the other main singer chicks came out and tackled real issues out there in the world (Beyonce/Police brutality, Gaga/Mental Health, Kesha/Anti Rape, Meghan/body positivity) and she decided she was going to complain about how ppl make fun of her for writing too many songs about her ex boyfriends but if she was a man she wouldn’t have that problem soooooo feminism!! Lmao, this chick sucks

... did you watch the speech? :hoetenks:

This was mentioned ONCE as a setup to a lame wine joke, in the context of a broader story of moving on from making mistakes.

The speech was well received in the venue by the people it was actually given to, and the only place on the internet where I've found any issue is in this thread :deadbanana4:

It's so funny to me how people here are throwing tantrums over a very inoffensive comment she made as a punchline to a story she was giving about people making mistakes and getting back up, and about how as young adults the graduates will experience that. Of course the losers here didn't bother watching before breaking their heels to say this somehow makes her an evil white monster :bibliahh:
