Quiqui4eva Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The promo was everywhere and the preview was a little obnoxious I can understand if that turned people off, but I’m still going to support it next Friday. Also, why is Billy so hated? I don’t really know him or any of his projects

Scarlett Witch Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I'm seeing this on Wednesday I think! Mainly because my job is giving out free tix () but I still think it's a cute look to support ze gays. I will be watching and report back because I heard it was funny. TS Madison apparently did what needed to be done

But I hate Billy Eichner OUTSIDE of BoTS... Girl, it was BANNED in countries My theatre GROANED at that scene and there was walkouts

The potential was there but the gay stereotypes ruined any desire for me to see it. Give it a shot - I was a person who did not want to see based on the trailer and I was extremely pleasantly surprised. 12 hours ago, Tusk said: ALL HE DOES IS YELL. This was also a reason I didn't want to see this - but he doesn't do his normal yelling persona in it. ----- I know I'm responding a lot in these threads haha, but I just want people to give it a shot cause it's actually really enjoyable. Ok I digress.

Badgalbriel Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 This was one of the worst movies I have ever seem in my entire life. Whenever that main character started talking I felt like dying inside. How can one make a character that is so annoying? This entire movie felt like a monologue. I could not stand hearing that narcissistic guy talking and talking and talking and talking. Omg, I was so glad it ended. But at the same time I also felt quite "happy" that this was a chill movie. No sad ending, no one dying from aids, etc.

It was just the main character screaming and angry at something for 2 hours. I never felt so repulsed by character in my life like I just felt for this movie.

I would love it though if the main character didn't make me want die inaide whenever he opened his mouth.
infrared Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I saw it - it was pretty cute i think the reason it’s underperforming is just a sign of the times - most rom-coms go straight to streaming and Billy doesn’t have a big enough name to pull people in
Mason Gooding Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 (edited) Actually laughing cause if this movie had Chris Evans and Luke Macfarlane (or at this point literally anyone but Billy) as the leads, then I'm sure it wouldn't flop this hard. Having attractive, likeable and big-name leads can be a huge factor in theatrical success of movies, especially rom-coms. And let's be honest here, Billy doesn't fit either of those categories. And don't even get me started on how this whole woke era of wanting to strictly cast gay actors as gay characters is not only annoying, but also problematic since it impacts closeted actors – e.g. Heartstopper casting call requesting the actor for Nick Nelson to be part of the LGBT+ community; same for Love, Victor (Benji casting call). None of the actors are out I think. Edited October 8, 2022 by Mason Gooding typo
retrophysical22 Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Saw it last night and went in with a very open mindset. The movie is offensively not funny.
Poxy Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 The movie was cute and funny. I enjoyed it, happy to have supported it. Billy and Luke looked nice throughout. I love the “happy” scenes near the middle, it was nice seeing the 2 leads thrive in their relationship.

ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted October 9, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted October 9, 2022 Finally saw this and I thought it was really cute. Very funny and loved seeing Luke's bul*e in several scenes. I think it did a good job in incorporating enough rom-com tropes for straight audiences while also queering the genre.

smoore95GAGA Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Just got back from seeing it and oh my god I love this freaking movie To that user that was complaining about Billy’s character, sis, that’s the point. You’re over here saying it was one of the worst movies you saw because they dared to present people with all their flaws. Also, to whoever was saying that the white femme gay is a stereotype, they also showed other types of gay guys. Such as Aaron, who played it straight for so much of the movie. And they included lesbian, bi, and trans people (the same can’t be said for so many other LGBTQ movies). I’m not sure why you’re acting like they only presented one type of gay person.
