Who is an A list queer actress? I can really only think of like B listers.
Sharapov Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 why'd an A list actress accept to be in this movie
fridayteenage Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 though to be fair, romcoms in theaters are kinda dead. the biggest one this decade made...$22 mil in the US total.
rta1913 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Well I really enjoyed it and found it very funny. I might go again to support the gays. Billy being too much is actually a point the movie makes and I related so much to that. And he is very well balanced out by Luke and his masc-ness.
Reverse Warholian Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 My straight ass is going to see this Tuesday
Arcadius Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I'm gonna go see it if I have time this weekend, but even without seeing I feel this would've been a lot bigger on Netflix.
Smarticle Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 The thread title I'll still watch it....when it comes out on streaming
Protocol Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Mega bomb. Sad. This will put off studios from doing theatrical releases for this kind of movie. I suspect it will have a much bigger audience on streaming though. I blame the lack of stars, no one knows who Billy Eichner or Luke McFarlane are. If only Richard Madden wasn't closeted or the producers hadn't been adamant on only casting actors who are out of the closet.
Life Savers Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 (edited) Not to be a Debbie Downer but they should have seen this coming. And the marketing for this movie was massive so the total budget is probably around double of what's reported. I'll go watch it to support them anyway even though I found the trailer cringy. Jaye Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Fire Island truly won. Will still go and support it anyway.
D_Man3379 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Well at least it got an A cinemascore so the movies quality isn’t to blame. Also I don’t know why y’all are saying Fire Island “won.” Is it because it didn’t get a theatrical release so it could not get hit with all the flop headlines because it’d definitely would’ve made about as much if not less than this. Did it even make any noise on Hulu?
Gossip_Boy Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 (edited) I find Billy Eichner beyond irritating and I usually avoid any project with his name attached but I feel sort of bad so I might give it a pity watch. I believe this opens the same day as Barbarian here which I definitely plan on watching so I might see both movies on the same day if possible. Edited October 1, 2022 by Gossip_Boy
Blue Rose Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I don’t understand the obsession with Fire Island (a disgrace of a movie) Netflix’s Single All The Way is the superior gay rom com and came out first. I can’t wait to see this movie. I’ve only heard good thing about it. The problem is that the marketing sucked. Billy did turn me off and I was a fan of his work, so I can only imagine how people who didn’t like him before felt
commander Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 A gay film that somehow manages to be homophobic.

Has the marketing been that major though? I never really hear about it outside of here or twitter

Cherish Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I thought this was doing well. It was selling well at my theater. We were struggling to find seats for people who came in last minute Granted we do have recliners but I'm talking 80-100 seats per auditorium.
EnoughSaid Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Gay or not this is a streaming movie what do they expect. That’s when I’ll give it a watch
Stepfon Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I enjoyed this movie but the marking (they should have been focusing on the fact that this was a good movie vs. how groundbreaking it is) mixed with Billy & the lack of stars had it DOA.
