rosesbloom Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) Track 1: #ForTheNightTrack 2: #Surprise Track 3: Cheat Back #ForTheNight & #Surprise ended up the top two in Chlöe’s latest Twitter poll. Chlöe also played another preview of the delayed collaboration from 6LACK. She also explained the delay was on his side & fan demand would only secure its release. LightningPH Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Surprise and Cheat Back Not sure about the other two though. Actually, I can hear Ella Mai in all of these.
Perfect Crime Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 For The Night is a bop, giving R&B hit Surprise is a cute album track but nah
Istan4R Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Cry For Me could be a hit with a high budget video For The Night would do ok the other 2 are nice but sound more like album tracks than singles im pleasantly surprised by the music. It’s pretty good for a debut
T.O.A.D.S. Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 They all sound fantastic but I voted For The Night
iConic Legend Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 I liked surprise, it's lyrically kinda cute. I feel like Chloe has found her sound outside of the Beyonce comparisons.
mlaredoperez Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Non of these sound like hits except for cry for me.
*-ChriZ-* Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) For the night or cheat back are the obvious choices. She needs sth relatable and laid back now after HM and TM A radio hit is needed Edited May 18, 2022 by *-ChriZ-*
Truth Teller Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Surprise is the one, the chorus is stuck in my head already and it's different. Would have made a great follow-up to Have Mercy For The Night is cute but basic. It sounds like every other guitar led r&b song of the last 5 years. She honestly looks a little bored while previewing it too Cheat Back is an album track

She needs sth relatable and laid back now after HM and TM A radio hit is needed I get this strategy tbh but I'm not sure I agree. What she definitely doesn't need is a song that will reach a cute peak on urban radio and do nothing on streaming, aka Ella Mai's career since Trip. She needs something that will stand out and make people interested in the whole album. Is For The Night that song?
Asparagus Spears Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) Really enjoyed Cheat Back and Surprise. For The Night is okay and the 6LACK collab was okay too. If she’s going rogue on Insta and playing tracks I’m assuming she’s either gonna be in trouble for it or we’re real close to a preorder… Edited May 18, 2022 by Asparagus Spears
BnPac Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) The 3 songs are OK, I get the Surprise's love but it's the less instant of the track and "riskiest". I am not sure they'll give her that again after she already blew that card with Treat Me. A song that shouldn't have been released. For the Night is the safest song so I suppose the label is going to go with that option. But tbh it feels like a safe, catchy album track to me. Edited May 18, 2022 by BnPac
BnPac Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Also she should definitely release Cheat Back after FTN or at the end of the era, it can give her a great connection with a broader female audience, it's Irreplaceable-lite. And female audiences are what sustain female rnb singers.

trainsskyscrapers Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 I'm just so happy I love all of them. "Surprise" hearkens back to that period in between TKAA and Ungodly Hour ("Thinkin Bout Me/Who Knew"... maybe "Hazy" too)... so I have a feeling she produced that one.
