Genital. Herpes simplex 1 is the one you can get without sexual contact so it is technically not a std and like 80 percent of people have it lol Monkeypox can be spread with just contact...doesnt have to be sexual you can literally be at a festival and rub into someone with it and catch it. You cannot catch HIV or HPV like that. Sexual contact/sex is the main method of transmission however all three is possible without sex/sexual contact. I'm assuming you meant herpes instead of HIV? HSV1 can also form blisters on/around your genitals. It's common. Anyways, I'm really not trying to debate the classification of monkey pox. Just trying to learn more on it. I've been told/read/researched that it's mainly spread thru sexual contact. The quote above your response explained it well. I see where I was wrong. Just trying to be safe out here. It's back to 6 feet apart/mask/vaccine and I'm perfectly fine with that

J Legend X Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 The way the UK clinics are literally slaying but not even questioning or asking for proof of being part of the "high risk" is just .... honestly, I'm glad 2 weeks ago I got the text from my clinic which I have not even been using that much the past 2 years because I was in a monogamous relationship, and they just advised "take it if you consider you are part of the high risk"... and that was it.. shot schedule and done.
Genius1111 Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 For people living outside of Western Europe, Canada and the US, has the government in your country announced anything about vaccinations for MPX? I live in Asia and I don't think Asian governments have any stock of Jynneos vaccines, so they are *intentionally downplaying* it because there's nothing else they can do. If you have a fighting chance to get a vaccine now, please consider yourself lucky.
Genius1111 Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 I also wonder how MPX will affect the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year. Will it be a superspreader event? Or will the Qataris postpone it like Tokyo 2020?

I only have two blisters (on my picky and my left toe). I have not had sex since February this isn’t a sexually transmitted infection, you can get this from direct or casual contact. Wait, you went to see a doctor over a blister and then were contacted that you had Monkeypox? Can you give us the full story, why you went to the doctor in the first place and why they chose to test you for Monkeypox?

Of course, let me elaborate about three weeks ago, I hung out with friends at a small get together. A week after the event, I get notified from the health department that I had an exposure. I didn’t have any symptoms, but I was told to isolate. 5 days later, I noticed a small blister on my pinky. It looked like a insect bite (to me) but then I looked up pictures and it looked just like monkeypox. I started freaking the heck out. Immediately, I started calling hospitals to see who could test me. I ended up calling CareNow and they said they would see me. They ended up swabbing my blister and it was monkey pox I didn’t develop any blisters or rashes on my face. The only visible pock I had was on my picky. I also ended up getting one on my foot. But outside of that I’m fine. the one on my picky got real big and ended up busting in my sleep and now is healing over nicely. I would post pics but I do not know how to do that on mobile lol.
RainDreamer Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 I've read that you can get 1 or 2 lessions or end up like this : Yeah, let me stay in the house cause that does not look cute AT all
Luckitty Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 this brings me back to january 2020 when no one took covid seriously and just like with covid people will only start caring when it's too late

I guess they don't really know yet since the vaccine is technically against smallpox and there's little real-life data. Other smallpox vaccines used in Africa had an efficacy of at least 85% against monkeypox. Honestly even though smallpox is eradicated, being immunized against it at the same time is a nice side effect given that some countries might decide to use it as biological warfare. 6 hours ago, Brysexual said: Of course, let me elaborate about three weeks ago, I hung out with friends at a small get together. So you literally just had 2 blisters and no other symptoms? Could it be because you weren't in really close contact with anyone, your viral load was pretty low, or did they not tell you anything about that?

And i hate that they lump non binary with trans. They are not the same. These are the official numbers per the NYC portal - links in the title. Not making excuses here, but many times people are uncomfortable saying so they'd rather have the number for an accurate total. A requirement to disclose would discourage positive cases coming forward which would screw up totals. I'd put it more towards that then screw ups in that data collection, although I'm sure that played a part to an extent. As for lumping non-binary and trans, a number of theories on that in terms of the medical nomenclature but again I'm not an expert. 12 hours ago, J Legend X said: gurl byee... these looks like acne.. ?? Vermillion Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 1 hour ago, katara said: What is the efficacy of the vaccine? Hey, I noticed this is the second time you'd ask this and not gotten a response. Here's direct from the CDC website: LINK What You Need to Know Two vaccines may be used for the prevention of Monkeypox virus infection: JYNNEOS (also known as Imvamune or Imvanex), licensed (or approved) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the prevention of Monkeypox virus infection, and ACAM2000, licensed (or approved) by FDA for use against smallpox and made available for use against monkeypox under an Expanded Access Investigational New Drug application. In the United States, there is currently a limited supply of JYNNEOS, although more is expected in the coming weeks and months. There is a larger supply of ACAM2000, but this vaccine should not be used in people who have certain health conditions, such as a weakened immune system, skin conditions like eczema or other exfoliative skin conditions, or pregnancy. No data are available yet on the effectiveness of these vaccines in the current outbreak. The immune response takes 14 days after the second dose of JYNNEOS and 4 weeks after the ACAM2000 dose for maximal development. People who get vaccinated should continue to take steps to protect themselves from infection by avoiding close, skin-to-skin contact, including intimate contact, with someone who has monkeypox. To better understand the protective benefits of these vaccines in the current outbreak, CDC will collect data about adverse events and vaccine effectiveness, including whether the vaccine protects a person differently depending on how they were infected with Monkeypox virus.
