You are well protected 2 weeks after 1 dose, the 2nd dose is just to extend the effects of the vaccine for a longer period. https://www.science.org/content/article/there-s-shortage-monkeypox-vaccine-could-one-dose-instead-two-suffice Fascinating, good to know. I got my first dose a few days ago so I guess that means I only have a little over a week until I can feel a bit less paranoid

The only ever asked me what state I live in, anyway

If they are do you know when they're getting more? Do you know how far they're scheduling out? Have they scheduled you for a second shot or are they only doing first shots like NY and CA?

I didn't use a website. I just called the number directly and scheduled an appointment. I gave the number to my friend and he called yesterday and got scheduled for next Wednesday so they don't seem out but they are filling up faster (I got mine the next day after scheduling). Didn't ask for proof of anything. Just basic questions on the phone They are doing second shots, but they don't schedule them until closer to the one month out date

I was hoping not to have to wait for their office hours again on Monday. I'm actually out of state for a while for a job but am asking for someone that is.

No, it was the Fairfax Government Center which I think just does have the standard office hours to contact them/schedule unfortunately
Vermillion Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 New York State's not getting their next shipment from Denmark for another SIX WEEKS. We need to start having some serious conversations about biopharma monopolies in this country.

Monkeypox isn’t clinically considered an STD/STI (like Clamydia) because its major mode of transmission does not have to involve sexual contact. You can easily get MP by touching someone’s infectious skin. Or being in close contact with them for a long time. “Close contact” doesn’t have to be sex. at the moment, Almost every MP infections have been from sexual contact because those positive cases are coming from male gays who engage in a lot of sexual contact with multiple partners within a short period of time.
Brysexual Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 I was notified that I was exposed two week ago, developed a blister on my picky. I only have two blisters (on my picky and my left toe). I have not had sex since February this isn’t a sexually transmitted infection, you can get this from direct or casual contact.

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation. I guess it's a sliding scale type of situation. Herpes main method of transmission is mainly sexual contact. Is there any data currently to support the "droplets" mode of transmission or is it still just coming in contact with a lesion?

Curious what is making this different from those. Monkeypox sounds like a STD just as those Umm you cannot get HIV or HPV unless there is sexual contact lmao And herpes simplex 2 is sexual contact as well. Genital. Herpes simplex 1 is the one you can get without sexual contact so it is technically not a std and like 80 percent of people have it lol Monkeypox can be spread with just contact...doesnt have to be sexual you can literally be at a festival and rub into someone with it and catch it. You cannot catch HIV or HPV like that.
