Crazy that out of 179 cases, almost all of them are due to MSM.

The UK leads the pack yet again :deadbanana:

How much evidence is there that this current version of the virus that’s spreading leaves permanent scarring? I want to see photos of people that had it now, not a stock photo from Africa from 10 years ago on Google.

The way you still only care about aesthetic appearances so much that you want to “shut down” the entire gay population of the world :deadbanana4:

According to a government health official from Spain, they think the outbreak has already reached its peak in cases due to the time the massive superspreading events happen. I'm not expecting 20 cases per day or so be the peak at all, I think we gotta prepare for thousands of cases worldwide every day, although I don't think it will reach hundreds or million of cases like COVID, ever.

Again, more good news since everyone in this thread seems to ignore them:

- No dead people yet. Out of +600 cases confirmed and/or suspected so far (and probably hundreds to thousands more undetected), it's already worth noting that there has been zero deaths

- Tecovirimat works and reduces the days of symptoms.

- The mutations found on the new strain of Monkeypox are not new and were already found on ancestors from decades ago: this strain didn't show COVID-like transmissibility or any change in behaviour

- Cases keep popping on men only, mostly MSM. Countries like Portugal, with 76 cases, only have reported cases on men, while Spain only has one female case out of +120 people infected. We will see in the following weeks, but it's very likely to say that the virus hasn't (for the most part) left the realm of sex scenes and superspreader events. I wish they released date gender data on every single case + whether a case had connection to a superspreader event or not, it would definitely calm some people fears since it can definitely be implied that the vast majority of cases come from them

The fact that no one has died yet seems to indicate the death rate for this strain is lower than the 1% previously stated.

We need more confirmation on how this is spreading exactly. Since cases are still heavily among gay men it stands to reason that this is likely not be spreading that much via droplets/airborne yet but mainly via anal sex, probably unprotected.

I don't think it's transmitting mostly through anal sex, but skin-to-skin touch in relatively dark places (or sex between people who don't give a **** about other having visible rashes in non-genital parts of their bodies)

Thing with bathhouses is that they are dimly lit so most men could probably not even see the rash

Cases in the UK announced today: 11

Cases in the UK annouced past Tuesday: 16

People were really quick to say there was exponential growth because of the 71 cases in Friday, Saturday and Sunday but doesn't seem the case

Also 12 new confirmed cases I Spain today, again, less than the number of cases confirmed last Tuesday. Yesterday Spain reported 22 cases for the weekend, again, less than last weekend.

This is promising, I was fully expecting 20-30 cases daily based in yesterday’s update.

I think it is a 2 or 3 week thing.

No signs of exponential growth or even that much of a growth on Tuesday. We'll see today, 10 cases in Spain and 22 in Portugal so far, we'll see with the UK

Also no deaths yet is very good news, if there's still no deaths or barely any deaths by next week we can definitely start to think about either the western european strain being less deadly or , more likely, that the death rate in Africa is driven by lack of healthcare and a very young and vulnerable population, which it's something I've barely seen in any opinion article mentioning the death rate: of course this kind of illness is gonna be more deadly if it affects mostly malnutritioned children who catch it from the direct contact with rats and squirrels

The parades themselves are fine, it’s the mass travel by gays and all the orgies and hook ups that are concerning for the spread of this thing

I always love your posts, so well written and very good information. Thank you, sis

Out of 132 cases in London residents, 111 come from men who are gay, bisexual or who've had sex with other men, 2 cases are in women and 19 in other men: some of them came from a trip to Nigeria. So short story, 84% of the cases in London are in homosexual guys and only 1,5% are in women, which makes me think a good portion of the men are lying about not sleeping with men or at least having some kind of very close contact with them cause this would men than in the London outbreak, "straight" men were almost 10 times as likely to get the rash than women. Data screams straight men not wanting to come out of the closet or cheating on their gfs and wives. So stigma and homophobia is, most likely, manipulating the data so far although it's positive that people see not only gay people can catch it.

P.S.: Well the data doesn't really specify whether there's 111 cases in GBMSM out of the 132 London residents or out of every single case. If it's 111 out of 190, it means straight men are like 30 times more likely to catch it than straight women, so yeah, lots of straight bros lying about not having sexual contact with men

Edit: Apparently just 5 cases today cause numbers have gone from 183 to 188 in England. That would be two (I think?, maybe it was four) cases less than the same day last weekend. Again, no signs of exponential growth in any of the three countries with the most monkeypox cases aka Portugal, UK and Spain. In the case of Spain and UK, a small decrease has been seen
