Netflix Exploring Live Streaming For First Time;

Plans To Roll Out For Unscripted Series & Stand-Up Specials

Quote

It plans to roll out the capability, which Netflix confirmed was in the early stages of development, for its swathe of unscripted shows and stand-up specials.

It would mean that Netflix would be able to use it for live voting for competition series and talent contests such as its upcoming dance competition series Dance 100 from The Circle producer Studio Lambert.

Similarly, it could use it if it decides to bring back its Netflix Is A Joke festival. The live comedy event featured around 300 stand-up performances across LA including Dave Chappelle, Larry David and Pete Davidson. Many of the shows were being filmed with plans to air around 12 of them on the service. In future, it could potentially air shows live, albeit with a few seconds delay

There’s no timeline and sources caution that it’s early days for the live roll out, but a small group within Netflix is in the preliminary stages of developing the product. x

I think it's a great step, in terms of engagement.

Lol right? “Live-streaming” is just reverting to TV.

So TV?

It feels like Netflix is just throwing every dart at the wall to see what sticks. I guess it makes sense from a business perspective, but I don't know how much it will help them.

:ahh: their downfall is ******* hilarious

Don’t mind it, imagine if they had big events like soccer, wrestling or even music festivals.

I don’t mind live-streaming. They addressed there core issue though. Which is developing quality shows that can last more than 2 seasons plus bring back ratings system.

Groundbreaking.

dddd they’re clearly panicking over bleeding subscribers. Maybe make your original scripted shows actually good? Just a thought

Congrats they have discovered TV

Just invest in better series from local markets and translate them to others. Money Heist and Squid Game are probably more profitable than Stranger Things (3-5), Peaky Blinders, The Witcher, Narcos, etc.

Personally I don't want this. And aside from Soccer moms who still watches those talent shows, who even do live voting anymore in 2022?? Like what? Text "Andy" to xxxxx number? :bibliahh:

If they had a show like the UK Big Brother this could work well.
