Well I have been working on the song for like three days to be exact, I made like three versions with different verses just the same chorus and finally feel confident with the one that came out today xx I don’t think it’s going to be that acclaimed but at least I find this good and a masterpiece If I do say so myself and that’s what I wanted here but also if the judges like it then cool tho x

I have a similar experience with writing tbh, I’ll write something in the moment and then have no idea if it’s good or not, and then have to read it back the next day to actually form an opinion 

 

What I have found, at least in my own cases, is that usually you don’t have any reason to doubt yourself and the majority of the time you will still like it

Maybe just the rhythm. You wouldn't be able to know the actual pitch of the notes and the elongation of vowel sounds in the melody from just the words themselves, unless there is a recording of it being sung.

 

So do the judges include the melody in their judging criteria, or is it about whether the lyrics flow smoothly and are not clunky or something like that?

No, we don’t judge the melody at all because unless there is a recording of the song sent along with it, then it is just us assuming what the melody is; and that is the case the majority of the time. We only judge the lyrical content and the entries relevancy to the challenge (one of my biggest critiques last round was that many of the entries could’ve incorporated elements further).
