I have the opposite experience tbh. Oftentimes with songs I put a lot of effort/research into, they haven't been acknowledged/appreciated as much as songs that I've thrown together at the last minute (see: Loch Ness vs. The Gift in PH11). In fact, the last time I feel like my efforts paid off was probably "Playing God"! Or more recently "Creation", which did have a small amount of research gone into it. I personally love when you can see a lot of effort has gone into a piece.

 

As far as the instrumental requirement goes, that's exactly right. Ultimately the multimedia prompt is there just to inspire your lyrics, and then the lyrics are what is meant to be the driving focus for the rest of the required material (instrumental, cover, video treatment etc.) If you are inclined to write an upbeat track inspired by a less-than-upbeat source material, that's okay!

Anyone who submits has already made a great achievement imo. I know that sounds cheesy as heck, but it's true! Life gets busy, and creativity isn't fungible. You may not be on track to win this tournament, but I hope you have enjoyed what you have submitted this season and taken away a thing or two also.

That's totally up to you! We understand if people elect not to or cannot submit for whatever reason. No matter your choice, we will only be able to give you one score for one song unfortunately, but feel free to take on whatever you feel comfortable. If you wanted a true challenge, it's definitely possible to have one song inspired by all three challenges! One possible route would be taking inspiration from a wartime film closely linked to your country, which would satisfy all three prompts if done right.

Just finalised my scores for the R4 results show.  My highest round average yet (almost an 8!) Y'all keep stepping it upT.

 

Remember, there will be no scores revealed during the upcoming results show, only ranks, until the finale when scores for R4-6 will finally be revealed. This is due to the average-based scoring system Golden Hit will use to determine its winner, and we don't want any presumptions going into the finale. As we've said in the past, scores are a far better indicator of how we felt about your song individually, so don't be too discouraged if you rank lower than you may have hoped during the upcoming results show. I will say, didn't score anyone below a 6.5 again because everyone did quite well.
