Billionaire Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Not only have two of the biggest Gen Z stars, Olivia & Billie, name-dropped her in recent interviews, but several of her songs ( Primadonna, Oh No!, Are You Satisfied, Bubblegum ***** to name a few) have gone viral on TikTok. Is it time we finally admit that she's slowly becoming an icon among the new generation?
SimpleKindofLife Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Electra Heart was quintessential to older tumblr gay Gen-Zers including myself. I think she’s always been an icon
Beyonnaise Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 It’s interesting to me how “Gen Z TikTok culture” is really just 2012 Tumblr all over again, just a decade later. They’re worshipping unreleased Lana songs and Electra Heart. Kinda the most impactful era of the internet ever.
XtianB Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I'm literally wearing my Electra Heart t-shirt right now and I'm Gen Z so yes
badvibez Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) She has been an icon for teens for over a decade now, I wouldn’t say it’s been slow. Electra Heart really resonates with that demographic. Twitter stans and atrl users just hate her for some unexplainable reason. Anytime she’s mentioned, it’s constant complaints and holding her to weird standards. Just look at the Platinum Blonde edition thread and ADIAML release threads Edited May 7, 2022 by badvibez
kandicha Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 She’s been one I think. I (millennial/Gen Z cusp) was a heavy Tumblr user back in the day so of course I was into her, but I randomly mentioned her to my very offline Gen Z sister a few years ago and found out she and all of her friends loved her… as well as another very offline Gen Z friend who also loved her. Electra Heart was such a moment.None of them knew she’s made music since though, lol.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Basically every pop girl from like 2006-2014 is part of gen Z culture, she def stands from the rest though with ha impact
On The Bound Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 She totally is. TFJ slowly becoming a TikTok classic. I do wish she'd make good music again though
Perfect Crime Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Electra Heart is a cult classic. Nothing else about Marina is iconic

JoeAg Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 very much so and Froot and Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land are her best albums 1 hour ago, badvibez said: She has been an icon for teens for over a decade now, I wouldn’t say it’s been slow. Just look at the Platinum Blonde edition thread and ADIAML release threads all of this like they hold her to some weird standard, and can’t accept that someone’s lyricism has the potential to change over the years. i’ll admit, as a stan, that Love + Fear was a bit of a disappointment, but all 4 of her other albums are excellent (in addition to pretty much every unreleased song she’s got)
Dystopian Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 her first two albums are kinda cult classics amongst gen z, that’s about it.

Bloodflowers. Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Gen Z relates to how Marina was feeling when she was our age in 2010-2012

Love and Fear is one of the worst pop albums of the decade, especially coming from an insanely talented artisté.

It’s so funny to me how so many of the early 2010’s pop songs by the girlies that used to have this forum in a chokehold are all going re-viral now lmao

I think it's just because the need that 2011-2014 Tumblr answered back in the day for youth looking to express culture and fandom via media is getting answered now by TikTok.
