Absolutely.

This one was a little too urban for my taste but she sounded nice on the hook

Release The Evolution on vinyl and include this as a bonus track. :'(

One of her best songs imo.

I love the video version with the additional adlibs.  It always annoyed me that wasn’t on the regular version lol.

Damn Promise really killed her hype..

I love Promise but looking back, it shouldn't have been released as the album-launching single. It also killed Ciara's commercial viability as well

Like a Boy should have been released instead.

To be fair, “Promise” peaked at #11 on the Hot 100, with most of its points stemming from airplay where it peaked at #3 with 100M AI. It was the songs digital sales that did it a disservice. It peaked at #20 on the Hot Digital Songs chart.

Albeit it was 2006, by Q3/Q4, digital downloads were gaining more and more traction every week and were starting to contribute more to a songs performance than radio like years prior.

I agree that the “Evolution” era was quite mismanaged and completely halted her traction - she had such a great start.

Yeah timing is another issue... She's not established enough to release the 2nd album in Q3/4.

While I prefer C's music to R's, C just doesn't have an ear for hits.

Even when her albums had potential hits, C lost the opportunities :rip: (G is for Girl, Turn It Up, Livin' It Up)
