NormaniReign Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) Out of all Rihanna albums, Loud have most hits but still have the most forgettable ones. No doubt, Only Girl In The World and Love The Way you lie were undeniable smashes but they didnt stand the test of time like We Found Love, Diamonds, Work, Umbrella, Rude Boy, Pon De Replay and Unfaithful. Does Loud really have the most forgettable hits? Why? Edited May 7, 2022 by NormaniReign
Both Sides Now Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) It was very of its time which explains how it smashed so hard in 2010. Really most of the music was bad though. It isn’t even fabulous for a throwback. Compare LOUD to GGGB - both huge successes but Loud aged like milk while GGGB aged like wine. Edited May 7, 2022 by Both Sides Now
Solaria Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Maybe in the US but Loud era Rihanna is the most remembered in Europe. That was her most global era
lawmak Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Ok, but you're dreaming if you think OG, S&M, WSMN, MD and CKB are forgotten. Especially the first three. And yes, I'm in Europe.
Masochism Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 in what world wtf Only Girl and S&M especially are far from forgotten (though I'm also outside of the USA).
istan4badgalriri Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 not when S&M & Only Girl are both doing 450K-500K daily on Spotify
yamiyuuuu Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I get what you're saying but I don't think it's entirely true. I think when an artist has so many hits it's inevitable that some of them shine more than others, the same happens with Madonna or Mariah for example. I think what happens with Loud is that none of the singles became signature hits for Rihanna but the era is very remembered, and the catalog streams prove it (S&M and OG have +500m streams in Spotify, WMN +300M, CKB and Man Down +200M...).
McNulty Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 honestly yeah, the album was BIG when it was released and very well liked by everybody but now It's kinda forgotten. still it's rihanna's best era imo
FosteR Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 S&M is played in every gay pop party here in Berlin so let’s not
Jynx Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 None of Rihanna's hits are forgotten especially not the Loud singles. People still stream her music despite her absence.
Johnny Jacobs Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 imagine thinking that era was forgottable it was iconic. and its still widely streamed daily a decade+ later. a cultural reset many will say
LustSpell Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Loud seems to be a lot more remembered in the Europe, but OGITW and WMN? are HUGE here in the states

Rihbeyga Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Oooh maybe where I’m from and live is the difference here but Man Down played while I was in the alps in France and people were losing their mind. (can someone tell me what’s that about? Because the demographics didn’t match the song)

JBJT2786 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 The backfire I think the other users said what I had to say for me.

(can someone tell me what’s that about? Because the demographics didn’t match the song) Man Down was a monster smash here in France in 2011. Like it literally went #1 for 5 (?) weeks. Some bars were even making cocktails with names based on its "lyrics" (with a pretty cringe wordplay though imo but why not).
Truth Teller Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 It was inauthentic and that's why it isn't as remembered as other eras that were closer to her true identity. The fanbase she established with the follow-ups, and especially ANTI, have no use for that sound. S&M is definitely remembered and I think it has something to do with the fact it feels closer to the Rihanna persona we know
Fruity Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 S&M especially is incredibly remembered And Only Girl is def a very valued throwback. Cheers is also quoted pretty regularly "... to the freakin' weekend, I'll drink to that yeh" while Man Down is generally considered one of her best songs to this day.

Does Loud really have the most forgettable hits? Why? I must live in a parallel universe then. Where I live, S&M and Man Down are among Rihanna's most popular songs of all time I would say Loud has her biggest and most remembered hits to this day.
