tell us the thread backfired without telling us :toofunny2:

were you on another planet last year when it all came to light that she was forced upon that situation?

Let's be honest, I don't think anyone ever forced her to lip-sync.

At the beginning of her career, she started singing live. The entire Mall Tour in early '99 featured live vocals (with a track for backing vocals).

She started to lip-sync because she had issues singing live, her voice deteriorated rapidly and wanted to focus more on choreography. NO ONE forced her to lip-sync. She started to do it because she couldn't sing live. By the end of that year, she struggled to sing even a simple song like "Born to Make You Happy":

You can use the c-ship as an excuse as to why she didn't record her vocals for Britney Jean, but you can't use it as an excuse for her lip-syncing. She's always lip-synced. She's lip-synced more than anyone. And when she wanted to sing live, like that "Something To Talk About" performance, she did. She may not have total control of her career, but she had enough to choose whether to lip-sync or sing live and she chose the former. Moreover, when she had almost total control of her career (Britney - In The Zone era), she lipped 99% of her performances.

I think the reason is problematic and jealous popstars which constantly pushed to public even though there is no interest in them. Like xtina.

Pop in general was always seen as a less credible and more disposable genre way before Britney and it always stemmed from misogyny. If you want to make a half assed OBH thread just do that instead of making unfounded and ridiculous claims.

We’re talking about the Vegas era. The Jaime con era.

it doesn’t take a genius to know they forced those songs, singles, performances on her.

yes, she rebelled and look what happened to her in 2018-2019.

think a little, sweetie

Britney perpetuated every negative stereotype people associate with pop girls:

- Manufactured voice/ Image.

- frivolous, superficial songs.

- No apparent musical talent.

- A career based on gimmicks and shock value instead of talent (Over-sexualised teen, snake performance, Madonna kiss)

- Filler-filled discography.

- Critically panned.

This image of the shallow super star cemented itself in the Gps minds, and Pop Girls often find themselves fighting to be taken seriously inspite of all these hindrances.

Is this all Britney spears's team fault (I know we can't really blame her since she mostly had nothing to do with her career) ??

Why do you leave aside the original non-singing image driven pop girl  and came for Britney tho?

Especially when one of the reason you gave involves her too.

True at the end of the day she has millions who love her and they only have each other co-signing one another in a niche forum

Madonna too before her a bit with her antics. Obviously a female  become an overnight sensation, hugely popular, but being seen to not write a word or singing music live kind of perpetuated what you described with GP and they make the blanket assumption  ‘pop is all a label product’ . But that wasn’t all on Britney no, spice girls got flack (posh) for not being good singers.

That’s why Lady Gaga coming on in 2008 doing all those interviews, piano performances etc and scoring the big hits really was the ‘anti’ of the ‘famous for being famous’ and brought a lot back to pop. What should’ve been a other blonde woman lip-synching at first listen to her music, so totally wasn’t

You keep pushing this narrative. Where’s lil kim now? And timbaland was butt hurt because she worked with his star pupil danja instead of him

It was the fault of the industry for propping up hot people who couldn't really sing and had little creative imagination as global superstars.  Everything about them was manufactured and they weren't really allowed to have an opinion on anything unless their label and team approved of it.  It wasn't exclusive to a single gender.

Weirdly enough, not many here talk about how the GP was FORCED to listen to and consume pop music.  Labels paid all of the big radio stations to spin their artists non-stop every day, put them on the top 10 countdowns, partner with big brands for sponsorships so their artists' faces were on every billboard and ad, paid to have their artists' CDs front-center at every music and tech store, paid to have shops play their artists' music, paid for online ads everywhere, paid digital music platforms (iTunes, Amazon) to limit song previews as much as possible, etc to incentivize people to buy and obsess over pop music.

We still see this in some ways (playlisting, sponsorships, partnerships, magazine covers, ads, etc) but overall, music consumption is more more democratic than ever due to streaming.  Yes, playlisting is a major influence, but there are also seemingly infinite "indie" or niche playlists either created by music platforms or by normal people with new or smaller artists and bands.  We can now easily avoid hyper manufactured music if we so choose to, and it is considered "uncool" to consume pop music as a retaliation of, honestly, some of the really stupid music we were all forced to listen to while growing up.  So no, it's not really Britney's fault, she was just the most successful out of the rest.

Why do people spend there time hating on someone who spent 1/3 of her life being controlled and abused. I hope none of u ever get put under conservativship for 13 years.

Yes like a lot of singers but Beyonce can still blow when she sings live/spontaneously without a mic.

No, Pop music isn’t respected in general.

But idk why it would matter for her to be respected. She’s an entertainer and she does her job well. None of the dweebs on this forum could go on stage and do her job for her.

You wouldn’t ask a producer to sing on their beat so idk why would would ask an entertainer to do anything else but entertain.

No. It’s stupid to pin the whole pop industry on one person.

Are you suggesting Lil Kim deserved to be mistreated because she’s a flop? That’s it’s okay to be rude to ppl if they’re not commercially successful? Yikes

Oh cool, didn’t know this. Doesn’t negate the fact that she said Britney was rude to her. It’s cute that they’ve made up the same way MJB and xtina have similarly made up tho ?

ot; yes brit is a trend setter in the stereotype of being a manufactured artistic fraud. Slay I guess lmao
