This looks like a modern day immigrant tending to crops in California (I am literally a Latino immigrant so don't call me racist). Except the Gilded Age immigrants were immigrants from Europe who dressed with shirt and hat like everyone else back in the day. This doesn't look at all like what they would've worn

 

And Gilded Age fortunes were made in industrial projects like railroads and factories, not plantations. Plantation owners lost most if not all their wealth after the American civil war. What people are emulating tonight is the New York upper class late 19th century style, which was chiefly due to industrial wealth. It was the poor immigrant workers from Italy, Spain, Ireland, Eastern Europe, etc that were working there.
