youngpopariana Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) On April 29 2021, Billie Eilish dropped ''Your Power'' as the 3rd single off her sophomore album 'Happier Than Ever'. It debuted and peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming Billie's 5th top 10 It also went top 10 in many other countries such as Canada, Australia, Sweden, New Zealand. UK, etc... The song is explicitly about power imbalance and grooming in a relationship ETA : This song didn't deserve to underperfom like it did. I thought a Billie ballad would've have had more longevity smh. The first song in her discography that I liked from the first listen. The GP didn't click with it tho. I remember when it dropped. A lot of ATRLers called it boring. Said it was ruining her momentum for the HTE rollout. It may have a bad single choice but the track remains excellent. Don't @ me Edited April 30, 2022 by youngpopariana
BuzzCharts Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Under appreciated song. One of the best on the album. Probably shouldn’t have been a single though.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Ended up being one of my most played from the album. Still don’t think it was a good choice for a main single
Trent W Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Great song, bad as a single, it’s a perfect album track
gustavothehuman Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Love this song. Billie made one dumb single choice after another though.
mrmayman Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 This grew on me so much after it's release. One of my favorites from her now. Just a beautiful song
Billionaire Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) Horrible horrible choice as a lead but I think it's been established by now that she's not the best at choosing singles. This + Lost Cause completely killed whatever hype there was for this era Gorgeous song though & I'm sure many can relate to the message. She should definitely release an album full of more "folksy" songs like this & Male Fantasy. Edited April 30, 2022 by Billionaire
Archetype Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I said this when I first heard it and my optimism hasn’t changed… it’s a really really beautiful song. Beautifully written, simple chords, perfect and delicate vocals, memorable melody, etc. It shows how much she’s grown.
Venus XCX Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 The song that made me change my opinion of her and made me a casual listener. Excellent song on a great album.
Kiss It Better Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 it's a great song, one of my faves but it shouldn't have been the "lead" single (the single that introduced the album)
Perfect Crime Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Bless her for releasing such a poignant & meaningful song as a lead single at the peak of her mainstream hype
Marianah Adkins Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 One of the best but a terrible lead single
1000 forms of queer Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Billie’s top 3 songs. I’m still obsessed with it. Gives me old Coldplay/Radiohead vibes
idleavealone Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Amazing amazing song, it's one of her best ballads for sure I remember crying like a baby and listening to this on loop when it first came out, it hit me like a ton of bricks from the get go Bad single choice but still and incredible song
Protocol Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 It did ruin her momentum pretty badly but it's one of her best songs and will stand the test of time. In 20 years she will be glad to have released a gorgeously written ballad like this instead of a quick lil hit.
Mr. Duff Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Has it just been a year? I feel like we've been so blessed with this gem for so long now. I admit I wasn't frawn at first listen but I agree with most people here, it's really a beautiful song and I applaud Billie for releasing something that showcased her artistry, despite it not doing well. Top notch beautiful song, hope it's more loved. Longevity-wise, I feel like this will hang on.
mystery Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Definitely not a good lead single choice but it is an absolutely gorgeous song and maybe my favorite of hers. It is so delicate and the melody flows so beautifully. I feel like this song and this album will age so well and be more appreciated as time goes on, it sounds so timeless.
Vrajesh Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 My fav song from that album, Top 10 songs of 2021 for me
Raspy Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 STILL BORING Literally wasted the blonde and album announcement hype for this turd
Jude Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Love the melody of this song but I always cringe when I hear the line "try not to abuse your power". Her worst line most likely.
