Sending you love OP We're just pointing that out because the OP said "South America is horrible for LGbTQ+ people" and as you may know we're talking about an entire continent, thinking the situation is the same in the entire continent is pretty ignorant. Do you think LGBTQ+ experience is the same in Amsterdam as rural Hungary? They're both places in Europe. As someone who has already lived in Paris, London and Massachusetts, I don't see how reaction to LGBT+ people here really are any different than the most progressive places in Europe and North America. This is of course not to say there aren't problems or homophobia, just look at our president.

In my comment I said that because it seems something traumatic had just happened to OP and they spoke harshly, so I decided to give him some grace in this instance

Yeah, I hope the OP feels embraced and know that he can relocate if he doesn't like where he is. Things get better

I met and hooked up with one of the most beautiful guys I’ve seen and he was from Belize, I didn’t even know what Belize was before I met him lol. —— Sorry to hear that. It’s bad everywhere, even here in Barcelona which is one of the gayest cities in the world the cases of homophobia and physical aggression against gays are skyrocketing. Belize has long been a popular tourist destination for LGBT people. Many holiday resorts host LGBT events. San Pedro Town is considered to be the most gay-friendly destination for tourists in Belize. It has a thriving gay nightlife during the high season. Gay people in Belize face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT citizens. Same-sex sexual activity was decriminalized in Belize in 2016, when the Supreme Court declared Belize's anti-sodomy law unconstitutional. Belize's constitution prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex ( ) , which Belizean courts have interpreted to include sexual orientation

Has there been any political shift? Normally, that is a cause
Karla Cabello Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 a woman was just burned to death just because shes was a lesbian here in chile..
Robert Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Sadly there’s no perfect place to be LGBT although it sounds like some countries in SA are more accepting than where you currently live. Even in Western Europe there’s a huge spike in homophobic hate crimes and also massive amounts of TERFism (especially Britain).
Starfish Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 I have a Brazilian friend who is a gay and he is fabulous.

Riot Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 What about Uruguay? I've always heard it's pretty good when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights
UnusualBoy Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Everywhere is a mess, although some countries have it easier than others.
Mr.Link Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Well duh. Latin America as a whole is in the Dark Ages of human rights. Catholic conversion therapy is still legal and practiced, lesbian women are even raped in attempts to “cure” them in rural areas. Two cases were in the news just last month. Dont be fooled by governments passing same-sex marriage laws, they only do it for political façade.
