Yep, the gold standard - Emancipation of Mimi.

 

A theme of freedom running through the album. Amazing singles like We Belong Together, It's Like That, Shake It Off, Say Something and then the 70s Motown-inspired album tracks like Circles, I Wish You Knew, Your Girl, Stay the Night, Mine Again. The gospel Fly Like a Bird. Amazing visuals...a true era.

EOM is probably the best comeback ever in terms of critical, commercial, and fan success. If Mariah hadn’t repeaked in the new century I’m afraid she might have been totally forgotten.

 

Circus was a great commercial comeback but not really a comeback on any other front.

 

ASIB fits better.
