Protocol Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 He failed to evolve in a convincing way. He was trying to give auteur artiste with 'Wonder' but he just doesn't have the taste level for it. So now he's reverted to pop rock for the masses with admittedly his best single in years ("When You're Gone"), but his profile is diminished enough that even that's struggling to become a hit. The teen girls who were his biggest audience have become more sophisticated in their tastes as happens to younger kids when they get a bit older, and now he seems a bit passe vs the likes of Harry Styles's more refined indie rock or the edgier, suave sensuality of Jack Harlow. Shawn is just...nice. But that's it. And that ain't enough to keep a huge audience engaged for multiple albums. He still has a solid core fanbase that supports him though and he can tour. It's not an Austin Mahone situation. Shawn also seems to be making moves in Hollywood with his recent Oscars appearance and co-hosting with Jimmy Fallon. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a movie soon.

They give an age when they start and the press runs with it. No point in speculating really. Although he came from Vine with that MagCon thing so he's probably the age he says he is.
