idk if this season is the result of writers strike, Miguel leaving or budget cuts that came from ownership change at HBO or all of it... they better be hearing these complaints. s1 was a masterpiece of television, s2 well... cute next to gorgeous ig

Miguel was a showrunner in S1 along with Ryan, and Ryan is now the sole showrunner. they had some drama apparently

She definitely is mine!! Esp Rhaenyra being a flop for most of this season. Alicent is coming up strong too. But Phia is so good and her scenes were so interesting… can we talk about her "plotting" on the Team Black side with Alys? Her appearing behind Daemon, whew, what a twist

She wasn't plotting with Alys.

Alys Rivers is a witch using Old Gods magic through the weirwood trees.

Helaena is a dragonseer, her visions are the result of blood magic used in Old Valyria which was passed down through many Targaryen dreamers, including Aegon the conqueror.

They were just having visions at the same time and Helaena used her powers to tap into Daemon's vision to give him the full picture she knows will come to pass through her own dreams.

I almost chocked when I saw Lohar for the first time. It's a guy in the book and I really thought they casted Daario Naharis' first actor.

Where should I start...

This season was a major let down.

The finale was a complete waste of time.....

The pacing is slow

The DRAMA is minimal

The characters are undeveloped

they cannot be serious with this. Season finale?!

Felt like a perfect introduction to the season finale. Definitely feel like they planned 10 episodes and this was 8/10, they changed their minds last minute.

Hence the quotation marks. But I'm not fully convinced if they weren't somehow aligned — Alys's whole arc this season was to "break" Daemon into submission and put him in his place, which is basically  the exact same reason what Helaena appeared for to tell him. The two things happening are also somehow eerily connected. Alys guides him to start his vision and then we see a direct shot to Helaena on the balcony tuning in at the exact same time.

4 seasons confirmed. Also S3 is really not coming till 2026… :gaycat7:

When asked whether Season 3 will also be eight episodes, Condal said: "I haven't had discussions with HBO about it, I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from Season 2 on."

But we do not want the same cadence… :gaycat7:

HBO please give them the budget for S3 thank you :bird:

I thought that actress was a big miscast. She looks too "modern" and feminine looking for that character, I didn't buy it at all. She was trying too hard with the voice too.

Production begins in 2025? Oh, that's not- :biblio:

damn this is a weak ass season finale. How did they mess it up so badly?

honestly I feel like a 10 episodes 2nd season would have been better. Cut all the unnecessary scenes like Daemon's and just mix season #2 and season #3.

I feel like the only highlight of this 2nd half of the season since Rhenys' death was the new dragonriders. The rest was just filler of whatever. :biblio:

the writing and pacing of the first season was miles ahead. Overall it was fine but it's been quite underwhelming.

She's a political YouTuber who trained in theatre and kinda has no business being on TV. Every time I've seen her acting it's been a mess.

Also was confused why her own people were misgendering her in the show lol.

The editing and writing of the last episode felt very underwhelming :skull: It makes no sense that Rhaena is looking for Sheepstealer throughout two episodes. It was almost hilarious. Besides, the introduction (and resolution) of the alliance with Sharako Lohar felt tacky and ridiculous af :rip: Still, as a reader, I can buy into Daemon's visions being the reason for supporting Rhaenyra, or that Alicent surrenders King's Landing to protect her daughter. Those changes seem legit and I have no issues with it. Nevertheless, this season was more spectacular visually, and the mere fact that it hasn't had any time jumps is a big plus for me. That's why I consider it to be even a bit better than the first season, although it has errors reminiscent of the last seasons of GOT. I hope the new spin-offs maintain a high quality :eatpopcorn:

What a disappointing season 2… I didn't really think season 1 lived up to any of the GOT seasons either, where each episode had so much drama and interesting story lines and the pacing was good. Not sure I'm going to watch the next HoD season, what a waste of time this was…

Well that was something. I've decided to read the ebook with the audiobook playing at the same time. It's like 26 hours. Let's see if I can get it done. I'm not waiting 2 years after nothing really happened in season 2.

Wait what. That felt more like a season opener.

It was a good episode, but the difference in pacing from S1's fast pace to S2's glacial pace despite less episodes is giving major whiplash.

Like at least finish with the conclusion of Rhaena & Sheepstealer. That shot of Rhaenyra & Alicent staring into the distance was not a strong finish at all.

Daemon, Alicent and Corlys' arcs were meandering the entire season and took up far too much screentime. This could've been used to further expand Aemond, Helaena, Jace, Baela and Rhaena. I really don't get what happened here, the season after Ep 4 almost came to a complete standstill save for the dragonseeds plot.

But wow, Tessarion. What a vision that dragon is. And that echoing roar is music to my ears.

I wish HBO is just trolling us with that final episode and they surprise drop the final episode next week.

Imagine the collapse :suburban:

this is what happens when studio becomes greedy, holding the scenes for the next installment

Mockingjay and Breaking Dawn being divided into two parts but this show wait is longer and pace is slower

Agree that the episode was slow and didn't feel like a finale, but I really enjoyed the episode on its own.

I know people are not liking how different Alicent is compared to her book counterpart, but I love her show character, much more interesting than Cersei 2.0.

Also obsessed with Helena, I hope we see her on Dreamfyre at least once :sosad:
