Alicent and the Hightowers are in charge of the reach.

but they aren't

Tyrells are in charge of the Reach and they haven't sided with Aegon. Even Hightower bannermen (House Beesbury) and they're at war with the Hightowers

i do wish we got more action (or ten episodes) but i liked the episode. a lot of the character building amounted to some moving scenes

Hearing the creators talk about "it" being Dany...do they remember hot GoT ended?

I don't understand this obsession with connecting HOTD to GoT which ended so badly that it IMMEDIATELY left the zeitgeist despite its formally insane popularity.

I could really go on a crazy tirade about how bad this season was. It's as though the writers didn't learn anything from GoT 7 & 8. So disappointing. It is also bizarre to me that studios have kinda regressed when it comes to representing strong female characters. The Katnissification of feminism has set us back YEARS. GoT had Catelyn, Brienne, Arya, Cersei, Sansa!

my final take is that it's really odd that a show this time consuming to shoot and this expensive, didn't choose to progress the story that much or make a lot of significant plot moves in an entire season. one, you're annoying people and two, you're not making that much progress in adapting the story at hand, just weird....

That finale was good,  though it basically felt like edging the whole time.

Daemon's vision (Daenerys!!!) was so good,  especially with him bowing down to Rhaenyra and finally excepting her as queen.

Alicent and Rhaenyra's second encounter was actually better than the first,  with Alicent basically ready to give it all up.  The Katy Perryification of her story is quite something :gaycat7:

Helena leaving Aemond shook with her vision gave me pleasure :ahh:

Ulf acting like a Brat at that dinner scene :ahh:

It's nice that new characters were introduced but annoying that they edged us with the battle we want to see knowing that Rhaenyra has a huge army and this show won't come back until 2026 at the earliest.

Great gowns, beautiful gowns. They deserve so many Emmys for the production of this show, but DAMN. The writing. This season was soooooo slow. Reading the books, I was expecting 3-4 seasons. At this pace, I wouldn't be surprised with 6-7. We do hate to see it. 💀

This part. Trying to desperately cling to Game of Thrones and making all these parallels will only doom this show. They should be trying to avoid it like the plague. Literally follow the source material. It is SO GOOD compared to this extra garbage that we're getting. No one was asking for the extra **** that we're getting this finale. Especially with Daemon.

And even that, compared to the books, they completely butchered (no pun intended).

Felt more like a penultimate episode than a season finale, at least up until that montage at the end. Lots of stuff was resolved/made advancements so that's good. 2 years till season 3, sigh.

Damn I loved the episode. So glad I didn't read this thread before watching.

Seeing Dany gave me chills and I got emotional when Daemon bent the knee to Rhaenyra. Also Helaena gagging Aemond like that and guiding Daemon in the vision :jonny:

Yeah it would've been nice to have another episode with fighting, but we'll get it in the next season. It's really not that deep lol.

This was a great episode. The people who want constant action miss the point of these series and have not learned from the original show's last two seasons. :dies:

Should there have been more episodes? Yes. But this season was great nonetheless.

Sorry but it felt like they stretched the whole season just to put the upcoming battle as the 3x01, not the final montage giving teaser trailer for S3 without any substance.

Daemon's plot could have finished in 3-4 episodes not 8! The best episode this season remains the Rhaenys one, I hope they just do one more season because another season like this type will butcher the excitement and the mid hype that it has (because let's be real it hasn't reached the level of peak GoT era).

And what's with the upcoming spin-off? They gotta differentiate them or something because the three have the same color palette and aesthetic.
