So four seasons more likely

Tbh this sounds good to me, would accommodate for the big shifts of the plot. Maybe they want to end Season 2 on a certain note and not have it switch around constantly.

GOT's first 4 seasons were excellent so I'm fine with them stopping at 3 or 4 :lakitu:

So the Rook's Rest battle will not be in S2 ? They said we ain't got time for the CGI.....:toofunny2:

Spoiler

I think they moved the Gullet to Season 3.

A little sad to hear that the second season is getting cut shorter, but I have hopes they are doing so for good reasons as opposed to stretching out the series for the sake of it. Either way, I really can’t wait for this to come back :wanda:

People are going to learn to stop taking that George Martin fellow seriously. After all his huffing about how they needed 4 seasons of 10 episodes to tell the story properly.

This move is obviously meant to stretch the lifespan of the show. They probably realized they had 20, maybe 24 episodes max of actual story left. Instead of splitting that into 2 seasons of 10 episodes, they're going to do 3 seasons.

The budget is going down, I can tell. Maybe it wasn't a great idea to make a series about  civil war with dragons, if they knew they didn't have the money for it.

Just do 3 seasons and call it a day.

Watch they’re going to film as much as they can of seasons 2/3 together to cut costs then prolong the last one. If they do 4 seasons then they have to expand the story, they can fluff up the writing/dialogue not condense it like the GOT finale which can be good but they’re already so spotty with how fast the timeline goes. They just check off events and move on.

HBO really said lets save the budget for the better show with higher ratings and actual awards potential

A smart decision I fear :clap3:

Said no one.

TLOU was a SNOOZE compared to the iconic show that is House Of The Dragon.

3 more seasons of 8 episodes each sounds good to me.  It really sucks tho having to wait 2 years for just 8 episodes.  And I don't see why, considering the wait for GOT was never that long (until the last season which was dog **** anyway).

I assume season 2 will go something like this:

E1: Daemon takes Harrenhal, Jace wins over Lady Arryn
E2: Blood & Cheese, Jace wins over Cregan (and Sara Snow?)
E3: Battle of the Burning Mill, Criston takes over as Hand
E4: Cargyll duel, sack of Duskendale
E5: Battle at Rook's Rest, Aemond becomes Protector of the Realm
E6: Dragonseeds, Battle of the Gullet
E7: Fishfeed
E8: Rhaenyra takes King's Landing

Idk, that seems like too many battles to me, but I also really think they'll want to end it with Rhaenyra taking King's Landing.  She'll suffer a lot next season (losing Rhaenys, Jace, and Viserys) and she's still the closest thing we have to a "hero" so she'll need a win.

I mean the first season went into production before Zaslav's takeover and during a time in which Warner Media wasn't hemorrhaging money the same way it is now, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was something they had to work around in terms of securing a smaller budget than they initially wanted. Who knows, I'm sure some behind the scenes stuff will come to light at some point :michael:

Imagine siding with HBO executives who green lighted GOT's abomination of a finale. Thank god that hag Miguel left and I hope we dont have any more fetish scenes for the sake of shock value, George better step up so those idiots dont repeat the same tragic path.

3 more seasons with 8 episodes each sounds reasonable. Considering the pacing, it makes sense. There’s an event that I thought would be a good stopping point for season 1, and that will obviously happen at the start of season 2, so this rhythm makes sense. And this will especially help pacing for the last 2 seasons because there need to be peaks and valleys to the story; it gets stale pretty quickly otherwise.

8 episodes sounds reasonable. I think budget has to do with the decision. They'll want to keep the cashcow for as long as possible

I'm referring to the promises he makes about how things are going to proceed. He's the one who publicly said the show would get 4 seasons of 10 episodes each. And let's not get into his endless lies about the remaining books.
