Oh interesting. I need your advice - should I read the SOIAF books before the Fire and Blood book(s)? Does it matter? I'm interested in reading SOIAF despite having already seen the show but I'm not sure what would be the best intro to George R.R. Matin's writing style.

So in the books they do talk about history a little which will spoil the ending of House of the Dragon but you won't know how it gets to the ending.

That said, you can honestly read either first. I would probably start with ASOIAF personally but those are gonna take a lot longer to get through.

Amazing thank you :jonny5: I think I'll read ASOIAF first.

It's just so hard to find versions of the books that aren't mass market paperbacks (at least in Canada) :pukey:

G.R.R. Martin himself seems to be very satisfied with the show.

He's seen 9 of 10 episodes of season 1.

“I’ve now watched rough cuts of nine of the ten episodes, and I continue to be impressed,” Martin wrote. “I cannot speak to the SFX, many of which are not in yet, but the look of it is great, and the acting, the directing, and writing are first rate quality. And yes, for all you book fans, don't worry it IS my story. Sure, there are some changes from ‘Fire & Blood’ — we could not present three alternative versions of every major event, not and keep our sanity — but I think Ryan Condal and his writers made good choices. Even some improvements. (Heresy, I know, but being the author, I am allowed to say so).”

For example, as some of you may recall, I have been saying the TV version of Shae in Game of Thrones, as portrayed by Sibel Kekilli, was a deeper, richer, and more nuanced character than the Shae in my novels,” he wrote. “In a similar vein, I am vastly impressed by the show’s version of King Viserys, played by Paddy Considine, who gives the character a tragic majesty that my book Viserys never quite achieved. Kudos to Paddy, Ryan and his writers, and Miguel and the other directors. (There are a lot of great performances in ‘House of the Dragon’ — or ‘HOTD,’ as I hear some are calling it. You may never have heard of some of our actors, but I think you will learn to love them, just as you did with the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’).”

You know I was more excited for the LOTR show but this one looks better and a lot more promising at this point.

Looking forward to this!

Major Fire & Blood spoilers, do not open if you haven't read Fire & Blood:

The way the gays are gonna be stanning Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, and Mysaria only for them all to end up.... well...

Also, I PRAY we get to see Helaena's Sophie's Choice moment.  That'll make Shireen's death look like Paw Patrol in comparison :duca: George is so evil.
