I’m kinda excited despite the heartbreak I experienced with GOT. Hopefully they manage to pull this off until the very end.

Weird how most critics agree that this is a back to basics show and yet it has the worst metacritic score of any GOT season ever. Even Seasons 7&8 got better reviews (LOL) 77 & 75/100 respectively. This is only at 68/100 (only for the first 6 episodes though).

We’ll see.

Metacritic S1:

Dragon 68

(Better Call Saul 78, fellow hyped spinoff)

Game of Thrones 80

Guess people prefer the STARKS to the targs.

This was never going to get amazing reviews.  People are still (rightfully) enraged by S8.  This show has to earn back people's trust, and it seems like it is already starting to do that.  The fact that it's getting mostly positive reviews is a great sign.

And also, people are comparing HOTD S1 to GOT as a whole... when naturally the first season of any show is going to be slower than any and all subsequent seasons.  GOT's inciting incident didn't even happen until S1E7 with Robert's death.  This show seems to be on the same trajectory

assuming Viserys dies in the second half of this season.

The wigs deserve the lashings though.

This is so grand and stunning, the piano giving way to the classic Daenerys'd chello later on . Ramin can truly do no wrong.

I don't understand tho, Grace only had the first 6 episodes, does that mean they will add more reviews later? :ducky:

No. They review the show based on the episodes they are given, which unfortunately won't take into account that most of the major events happen in the back half that they haven't seen.

01 Heirs of the Dragon

02 The Rough Prince

03 Second of His Name

04 King of the Narrow Sea

05 We Light the Way

06 Princess and the Queen

07 Driftmark

08 Lord of the Tides

09 The Green Council

10 The Black Queen

Thanks, we can tell what happens based on the titles and the timeline. Still skeptical about the time jump and how they explain the Kings new wife in the first 5 episodes then their 5 year anniversary which kicks off their whole “Dance”

GoT season 1 had ok RT score when it debuted and years after they added more and it went up.

I know what you tried. The show GoT isn't a show about only the Starks, tho. While the actual show about the Starks got cancelled. They tried to make GoT about the Starks in the end and we know what happened. People hated it so much that the Targaryens got their own show. And here we are...

Do critics review the first episode only or the whole season when they release their reviews ?

Queen sansa and princess arya were the stars of got but they couldn't be in a long ago spinoff.

Meanwhile the highlight of the dragon lady were dragons, so now there is a show called house of dragon. Makes sense.
