edutada Posted October 3 Posted October 3 6 hours ago, Forever Winter said: I gave this second season a chance and watched it in full and will not be continuing. A poorly-executed vanity project. 50% of the show recreates or calls back to scenes from the original trilogy and it feels cheap every time they do it. Examples: Reveal hidden contents The Balrog grabbing Durin by the foot... how original. Elendil's scene basically being a copy of Aragorn's in ROTK. And that's just in the finale alone. There are many more scattered throughout the season. Also just some absolutely ridiculous moments and lack of logic when writing these scenes... Reveal hidden contents Galadriel actress' absolute lack of charisma, and she also gets the worst lines of the show. "The door is shut."??? She also looks silly when doing fight scenes. Building up the Dark Wizard for the entire season for such a lackluster scene in the season finale. Grand-Elf? Really? Aren't men of the north supposed to give Gandalf his name? He all of a sudden decides to call himself that. Numenor is completely wasted on this show. This should've been one of the more interesting plots of this series but everything falls flat. Anyway I don't have the energy to list all the flaws of this show as there are so many, it would take hours. Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards hard carried this season and their acting chops were wasted on this show. Free them! Amazon will cry so much with you dropping the series oooh my darling I'm so so sorry that you didn't liked the show loool 3
edutada Posted October 3 Posted October 3 What an amazing season, they really did improve Let's wait for SE03 with the new writers 1
Feanor Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I enjoyed this season too, it was definitely an improvement over season 1. The humans and hobbit storylines are cute, but the Dwarves and Elves/Sauron (especially the latter) are definitely thee highlights. 4
Slate Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Let me binge the new season over the weekend. Enjoyed the first one.
Hector Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Strong finale, it set the template for season 3 incredibly well.
Lüwís Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I loved this season, I love that there's a huge budget for creating the world Tolkien created for us to see visually. I don't personally care if the shows plot line doesn't follow the books 100%. In reality, film and TV adaptations rarely follow books exactly and that's fine. They have some seriously great actors on this show too. Celebrimbor this season was one of my favourite characters (didn't pay much attention to him in Season 1) but this time he really brought out the emotion. I thought he was captivating (and very handsome for his age). The people who work on the special effects are artists. They deserve so much praise. Them and the people who build the sets are incredibly creative. I hated the wait, though. I hope fans of the show don't have to wait another 2 years for season 3 and I pray this is a show that gets seen all the way to the end and is not cancelled. It's too good to be cancelled. Ooh, I loved it, I'm so happy they've made this show. 1

nathanspears Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I absolutely hate the Numenor storyline. Not a single likeable or interesting character. I'm also over the Harfoots and even the stranger at this point. Get rid of those two and go deeper on the main story with the rings and I'll be happy with S3. The dwarf storyline is decent albeit weird plot points towards the end. 1
Elusive Chanteuse Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I loved this season. I like how it sets up season 3. I hope that the last of the Harofoots.
John Slayne Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) ok just finished the finale. i liked this season more than S1 however, i do agree that the call-backs, references and stolen plot lines from the trilogy are unnecessary. the things i like most about the show are the fresh takes on middle earth and original stories. Spoiler example: the dark wizard storyline is just kind of the same as Saruman getting corrupted. it just didn't move me at all. i don't mind the harfoots but they didn't really do anything this season. Numenor also did not do much this season. I enjoy the political upheaval in theory but for the finale they could have given us some resolution Spoiler to the Miriel/Pharazon conflict. it kinda just ended the way it started with Pharazon taking over and imprisoning Miriel) i was very skeptical of Charlie Vickers in S1 but he won me over easily this season. his portrayal of Sauron and manipulation of Celebrimbor was immaculate, easily the best part of the show. the big battle could have been done better but i can excuse it, we'll get more battles in the future anyways. everyone else seems to hate this, but i actually love we get to see more orc culture. it makes the story more interesting than just watching the same old orc enemies we saw in the trilogy and hobbit. i really think they should be even bolder for S3 and abandon the trilogy references, even if it makes some fans mad. like, if i wanted to watch the trilogy, i could just do that. we don't need to rehash it, give us something new! Starkboy Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Just finished and I loved it, this show is very overhated. However, I may be one of the few who preferred season 1, especially the second part was really good imo. In this season some storylines were kinda weak and useless (harfoots) and I didn't like how some characters disappeared for tons of episodes (Isildur, Arondir etc.). Celebrimbor and Sauron were obviously the highlight of the season, the actors did a great job. I can't wait for S3. 1

I was worried going in to the show that they couldn't make elves interesting as characters because tolkeinian elves are so perfect, but instead it's all the human characters that are so unappealing. Same with the Harfoots - Jackson did them so well but it's a complete miss here. Spoiler The good news is the Numenor storyline can only end one way so at least we will be satisfied by its ending
Cannon Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Amazon fired their entire writing room and yet they still want to spin this show as being a success Even more telling that they haven't announced that season 3 has been greenlit. I believe they'll make a season 3 with the caveat of massive budget cuts!
Dark Miracles Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I had to fastforward through the Harfoots storyline from midway in the 2nd season yikes, it adds nothing. Really like Charlie Vickers portrayal still, even better in this 2nd season. I also enjoy the Dwarves but expected more from them waking the Balrog, that's the most chilling, epic thing about the LOTR trilogy for me.
KFC Posted Monday at 11:06 PM Posted Monday at 11:06 PM Just binge watched season 2 and the main takeaway is that I want Kemen and Earian to die horrible, painful deaths
