Wait, when did this season start :skull: I was under the impression that it's still in the "coming soon" phase, literally no one is talking about this on social media

The 6th episode was quite good. :clap3:

The Sauron/Celebrimbor/Eregion storyline is definitely thee highlight of the entire show so far.

Just finished episode 5 and and I'm enjoying this season but I kinda preferred the first one so far. Maybe these last episodes will change it.

The pacing of Episode 7 kept throwing me off. I didn't know what was going on. The time jumps were so random and un-cordinated.

They were killing the troll in the pitch black and then 5 seconds later, it's day light?!

this season is better than S1. the Eregion plot line is actually quite enjoyable, i feel like many people just wanna hate on the show for the sake of it.

it's definitely better than those horrid Hobbit films

Yeah that really confused me. I assume time behaves differently when Celebrimbor is in that illusion? Idek

The showrunners said this episode and the siege was supposed to take place over several weeks, but a lot of viewers said they did not notice that.

Do you have a reference for that? The dialogue doesn't match that?

People take the duration of the battle too seriously :deadbanana4:

Based on the book, it took Sauron (the series did a twist which Adar) almost 4 years to breach the city

My prediction for the remaining three seasons:

Spoiler

Season 3: Numenor vs Sauron followed by its downfall

Season 4: The War of the Last of Alliance (this can be the final season but since the whole five seasons focus on the rings hence I expect The Witch King will be the main story of the final season)

Season 5: The rise of Angmar

If it doesn't get cancelled :rip: I would love to see them finish the whole 5 season though even if it's kinda slow and disjointed here and there

ep. 6 'Where is He?'

I liked it, typical transitional episode but definitely on the weaker side this season. my favorite part was Adar and Galadriel sussin each other out. didn't expect Adar to know all along that Halbrand was Sauron.

Spoiler

in my headcannon he knew it from the very start. but since he already tried to kill Sauron, he let him go, since at that point in the story he wouldn't be able to kill him for good. so once he got the information about the power of the three elven rings, he planned on collaborating with the elves to kill him for good in eregion.

and the 'trial by abbys' in numenor was really cool, definitely one of the most strikingly beautiful scene of television and they finally gave some nuance to Earien which I appreciate. not much movement for Celebrimbor/Annatar, Tom Bombadil/Stranger and the dwarfs in Kazad dhum, just plot continuation of previous episodes.

ep. 7 'Doomed to Die'

best of episode of the show? maybe. i thought they was a good balance between action and character moments. but personally the strength of this episode resided in the more intimate scenes for me. i've seen millions of battles on screen and there's nothing this show could've done to bring something new to the table so i'm so glad it didn't focus on that.

Spoiler

Brimby slowing realizing that Annatar was ******* with his mind was chef's kiss (the missin stone on hammer, the rat, the candle etc), really well done stuff. Charles Edwards carried this episode for me, that conversation with Galadriel is actually my favorite scene of the episode, lowkey made me tear up. :chick3:

i'm curious about the repercussion of the dwarfs not showing up, i love the Durin/Elrond duo so it's gonna be heartbreaking to see it fall apart.

lastly that famous kiss didn't bother me, purely a distraction tactic. did anyone see her face after the kiss? she was like, what the hell bro? but then he passed her the brooch. but i can understand why people think it was unnecessary as hell.

Spoiler

throughout episode 6 Celebrimbor is frustrated and doesn't make much progress with the 9 rings, he's very unfocused and distracted, at the end of the ep the siege of Eregion begins and he wants to check outside because he hears the siege alarm. that's when Annatar as a last resort enter his mind and change his reality. in episode 7 we have a piece of dialogue where Brimby is almost done with the rings and says that he's never been more focused than during the last few weeks (basically ever since Sauron altered his reality at the beginning of the siege). but yeah i agree the passage of time is fuzzy in the show as a whole, so no surprise for me this ep. didn't bother me but it can be confusing for others.

Not a bad season overall, but I do find that the storylines are very uneven in terms of how interesting they are. This season it was very much

Elves vs Sauron >>>> Dwarves >>>> Numenor >>>> Arondir/men>>>>>>>>>>>>Hobbits/Stranger

The show straight up slaps for me when it's just elves & Charlie vickers' amazing Sauron but the rest of it I'm not so sure about

I gave this second season a chance and watched it in full and will not be continuing. A poorly-executed vanity project.

50% of the show recreates or calls back to scenes from the original trilogy and it feels cheap every time they do it.

Examples:

Spoiler

The Balrog grabbing Durin by the foot... how original.

Elendil's scene basically being a copy of Aragorn's in ROTK.

And that's just in the finale alone. There are many more scattered throughout the season.

Also just some absolutely ridiculous moments and lack of logic when writing these scenes...

Spoiler

Galadriel actress' absolute lack of charisma, and she also gets the worst lines of the show. "The door is shut."??? :ahh: She also looks silly when doing fight scenes.

Building up the Dark Wizard for the entire season for such a lackluster scene in the season finale.

Grand-Elf? Really? :ahh:

Aren't men of the north supposed to give Gandalf his name? He all of a sudden decides to call himself that.

Numenor is completely wasted on this show. This should've been one of the more interesting plots of this series but everything falls flat.

Anyway I don't have the energy to list all the flaws of this show as there are so many, it would take hours.

Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards hard carried this season and their acting chops were wasted on this show. Free them!
