but I’m kinda one of the people that says that there’s not always the new this or that, Ariana is Ariana and dua is dua, they’ll have their own careers and we won’t keep comparing them in the long run, Ariana and Dua are doing some things that Katy and Rihanna never did

I don't see how any of their career trajectories are similar, to be honest.

 

Rihanna established herself early on in her career as way bigger than Ariana has ever been. As for Katy and Dua, while you can see a similarity because they're both singles artists, that's where the comparisons end. Katy Perry was definitely a very known name at this point in her career. She had both the singles success and the celebrity status. Dua's music is still somewhat faceless in a lot of places, including the biggest market on Earth.

Because using a Christmas song as a counter-argument to the claim that a pop star doesn’t have crossover hits is silly?  Getting 10m streams during Xmas season is cute and all, but it doesn’t change the fact that none of her actual pop hits have crossed over to older demographics   And bringing up Taylor is funny because I’d argue every 1989 single is more recognizable to people over 25 than probably every ariana song ever

Crossover hits lmao, stuff like HAC, AC and rhythmic radio are not a thing outside NA, just cause X artist has never gone top 10 on a chart like AC radio on Billboard doesn’t mean that no one over 25 or 40 years old has never heard any of your songs

i will NEVER suffer because this faceless H&M musician, no matter how far they push and how deep her label pocket is, she's never gonna be on the same level of Rihanna, Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney etc. just because her "fans" are leftover gays of previous pop stars that are past their prime & now holding onto a new girl that can chart, doesn't mean she's on their level. her name just isn't recognizable and doesn't carry anything. it's always "her tour" and "her #1 year end radio song". but even as a celebrity, she's not even on Selena's level. so no, i'm not pressed. far from it. her stans, who hide behind Zayn Malik avis, just need to be humbled and take it a few steps down because she's not who they think she is.

Sorry but Dua is faceless in the biggest market on Earth. She's 6-7 years into her career. The average American GP member most likely heard Levitating or Don't Start Now, but they wouldn't be able to tell you who Dua Lipa is or what she looks like  She's just not that big of a name in America at all  Meanwhile at this point in their career, most GP members could definitely tell you who Katy Perry or Rihanna were, hence why this comparison is a bit silly.
