The video needed to be better...It was a choice but then again, its very Nelly. The song is a HUGE BOP. It was my most played song that year and she and I even had a little Twitter exchange about the single.

I feel reallllly old now though. WOW.

I do agree that the song is a huge bop. I remember hearing it for the first time while watching the music video on Countdown via MuchMusic (Canadian network) back in 2012.

I re-discovered it a few years later when I got Apple Music.

You had a Twitter exchange with her ? That’s super awesome. Congrats !!!

Since you mentioned the music video, I think it’s a good thing it came out in 2012 and that also it didn’t make a lot of noise at the time. Had the mv come out now, Nelly probably would’ve gotten backlash for cultural appropriation. There is native american imagery all over the visuals.

The song itself has a very AAVE slang + vibe but since an African American man helped co-write and produced it by himself, I don’t think she’d get dragged for that. I could be wrong tho. .

Honestly I'm not too sure but I think the feature credit is just for name sake - I don't think it plays a role in royalties but I could be wrong. Like you said, the feature credit would be helpful to have her name back on the map again - it doesn't seem like she cares for that though and honestly prefers not to.

For example, JT being uncredited in BEP's "Where is the Love?" - I don't think he took a pay cut for that, it was just his preference because he didn't want to be overexposed

Since she hasn’t really been present on the mainstream scene for about a decade now, I’m going to assume she willingly chose to be uncredited. Like you said, it doesn’t seem like she cares that much about exposure. I tried to search to see if she had social media accounts. She  doesn’t have Twitter but she has Facebook. The latter hasn’t been active since last year. Same thing for her Instagram account. She only has 2 posts on there chile. I guess it’s safe to say she’s keeping a very very low profile. Taylor and Beyonce who ? But I am sure she has her own reasons. It’s her life after all. I am just a little bummed cuz I wanted to keep up with her but that’s not really possible.

I’m not familiar with “Where Is The Love” so I didn’t know JT had uncredited vocals on the track. I lean towards the same guess as you. He maybe didn’t want to be on the map. He probably didn’t lose coins for not having his name in the title. I’m sure the money really comes from the songwriting credits.

Yes she mentioned how the "Loose" era was too overwhelming for her and she never wanted to have that level of fame again - the fact that we only knew she had a 3rd child because she randomly updated her insta bio a few months ago and that was it :rip:

Ohhh I wasn't aware the Loose Era made her feel overwhelmed fame wise. That's unfortunate !

OMG that's so awkward tbh for y'all to find out that way about her two youngest children that were born after 2018. I don't know how I would feel if Ariana, Gaga or Miley would be MIA for a long time period and then reveal they had an offpsring out of nowhere  :deadbanana4:

Spoiler

But deep down, I know I'm not really entitled to anything personal wise from any of my faves so I shouldn't let that affect me.

Who remembers the hidden lyrics on the reversed version? :deadbanana:

And I love how it references a classic 90s hiphop or R&B track in every line of the verses

Oh that’s a nice way to put it :clap3:

Spoiler

Darkchild has the formula indeed ! I sometimes confuse his stage name with Danja’s tho.

His best production imo is Feedback by Janet Jackson. Such an underrated bop :WAP:

Omg the reversed version is lowkey eerie :rip:

It’s kinda giving “illuminati backwards message” those conspiracy YT channels would always post in the early 10s.
