Shakira lost her muse of inspiration. Why?

Shakira is one of the artists that I've always appreciated because I'm Colombian and I support her.

But I don't get why does her music keep getting so dull, boring and uneventual. She used to make some great tunes, well crafted with solid songwriting. Now she makes whatever can get her a quick hit and that's it.

The definition of selling out I guess.

The new song "Te Felicito" is definitely pretty basic and repetitive and feels like it should’ve been a filler song on an album, not a single.

I think "She Wolf" bombing took a number on her. She's never been the same ever since.

Have you heard the full song? :gaycat6:

Shakira is lazy and she has been for years. It’s been pretty obvious that she’s not passionate about music or her career, since she tries to stay at home in Spain as much as possible.

Same thing with Enrique too. It’s very sad to see.

Sale el Sol was incredible tho :jonny: But yeah, after that she really changed

The writer’s block she’s had since before El Dorado era is still there.

She stopped releasing anything good after Sale El Sol... SHAKIRA. was absolutely lackluster, and I blame Pique and her kids :sorry:

Not enough threat from Saudi Arabia

One of the world's biggest mysteries tbh. I can't believe the woman who wrote "En tus pupilas" is the same who wrote "Me enamoré".

No one is releasing their best material after 3 decades in the business.

El Dorado had some great songs though...better than the Shakira album.

No one is expecting her to top her best works but the level of trash she's been releasing is going too far. Can't think of any other pop girl having such a downgrade quality-wise.

The song isn't even out yet :deadbanana2:

OT: I agree that her music isn't as good as it used to be however I still like it, it's hard for a female artist to still be as relevant as she is all these years later so in order to continue that success she has to be a little bit of a trend chaser

people wouldn't appreciate her art nowadays, so she doesn't even try anymore

You're judging a song from a 28s snippet :rip:

Unpopular opinion but I really liked El Dorado (sans Me Enamoré).

'Amarillo' is up there with some of her best 90s stuff.

I blame her collab choices

maluma, Alejandro, mama, Carlos = instant classics

vs

bep, annuel…..

White / European men are REALLY draining to us latinas - we lose our identities

She had to sell it to pay her taxes

she's been in the business 30+ years, it's expectable .. i still enjoy most of selftitled and eldorado but the massive downgrade from fijación oral etc is there..

She has already released some of the best music. It gets really hard to top yourself after that. And then considering how the sound of music has changed I feel she feels she has to keep up with that market

She’s done enough already :michael:

Also, people hate on the Shakira album but Empire is one of her best songs :cm:

It bombed? I always thought it was a hit. At least in my country the song was everywhere

They were talking about the album, not the song

-------

She said what she said in "How Do You Do", "Don't Bother" and "Dreams for Plans" and y'all let her artistic project flop and only bought "Hips Don't Lie" so she has been serving cheap thrill music over deep music (that y'all dragged her English lyricism for) ever since
