That is like asking why and being surprised how Olivia is outstreaming Sabrina

I’m curious to know why because I was told that Camila was bigger than Camila, however I just can’t quite wrap my head around an album from  2020 outstreaming  NEW Camila Cabello music

Well a couple of things

 

Future Nostalgia is kind of a timeless album with a wide appeal, backed by good label support and management. 'Familia' isn't as widespread in its appeal, has weak label backing by the failing Epic Records, who suck at radio and playlist promotion. Warner have put a lot of investment in Dua with more singles being promoted, remix album, deluxe, and other artist promotion such as magazines, festivals, well promoted tour which have helped strengthen Dua's brand over that of a faceless singer. Public interest and brand building was attempted through Camila and Shawn's relationship which, aside from being a relationship, labels saw as an opportunity to profit off, however, that heavily backfired and was a bad career move, eventually, for both artists involved. And once the GP moves on from an artist, it becomes a challenge to get people to actually become reinterested in that artist. 'Bam Bam' attempted to save the lack of interest with a major Ed Sheeran feature, after the unfortunate failure of 'Don't Go Yet' (which I think was a great single promoted badly) though the song didn't resonate well with the public so Camila was kind of left in the dust. After that, Epic didn't have many options to promote 'Familia' and saw Psychofreak as their last single choice, so decided to release the album to avoid Camila falling off completely.

I am pretty surprised as I was under the impression Dua was a nobody, a non entity with 0 hits and only has good stats due to payola. I guess the Familia girl is not on Dua/Olivia/Doja’s level after all

Camila had two songs on TTH, SNL, Late night shows, daytime shows, big collabs. Promo is not an excuse.
