Achilles. Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 The Grammys have a strong preference for artists who write their own music, and most other pop stars do not do so to the same extent that these three do; they all have widely acknowledged reputations for writing all of their own material.

suburbannature Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 White mediocrity triumphs often. Same with Celine.
*-ChriZ-* Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Did they each deserve to win AOTY 1 time? I guess yeah. But awarding Taylor with 3 and Adele with 2 AOTYs respectively was bs and they were favored over extremely important, great, and simply better outputs by African American artists such as Kendrick and Bey

allforyou Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 You forgot: Celine Dion - Falling Into You Whitney Houston - The Bodyguard OT: The grammys have never been favorable towards female artists in general categories, especially females that do pop music so it's not surprising only so few pop girls have managed to do it

Doesn’t mean they have to be some of the best of all time (even though Red and 1989 are literally on loads of decade and all time lists)

Metacritic is kinda pointless, who cares what 30 journalists have to say? Winning AOTY means thousands of actual musicians voted for your work as the best of the year, much better criteria for acclaim imo.
