Rev8 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 For Xtina, release her projects earlier Bionic was meant for 2008 or something..not 2010 nn (she still would have time to put her foot down, before the new acts established themselves fully, +she had pretty strong connections at the time) Katy...continue working with Dr Luke I guess? or try experimenting with the people around Max/Luke..Cathy it rly did seem a good choice to branch out and show her "artistic" side..but we saw that wasn't the best choice or way to do it.. I guess I understand users pushing for a longer Prism era..I would add that her working with the same ppl Taylor was working, might've benefited her Cyndi and Paula..I think Cyndi was too "artistry" driven and Paula...too big of a break? Cyndi was destined to flop while I dont know Paula's stuff..I do think she may have tried to slow some stuff down in her sound and basically try to be a Janet? which wasn't her style..+she was more of a singles artist before the time for being one was right

She doesn’t belong with the others. Cyndi has a fucking Tony. She's the one who doesn't belong in the same tier as the reality show judges.
Xtianlofbritney Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Xtina didn’t have a chance. She was just a copy
Protocol Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Cyndi: She needed a makeover for the third album, by the late 80s she looked like a relic. Streamline her look, no more garish wigs and outfits and colours, better A&R, 'A Night to Remember' had "I Drove All Night" but she needed another hit. Paula: Release that third album much sooner, in early 1994 would've been a good time with Madonna out and Janet mid-era. Christina: Back to Basics should've been one CD, and promoted further with more singles. Then no Greatest Hits album in late 08, instead she should've released a whole new album then with the electro-pop sound. "Keeps Gettin' Better" could've been a lead for that but with a much better video and more promotion. Katy: "Chained to the Rhythm" was the only choice for a lead on 'Witness', but the next two singles were catastrophes. Release the album in April 2017 instead, and make "Miss You More" the second single.

I actually am of the opinion that some of these Smile tracks were outtakes in the vault from both Prism & Witness that were spruced up. Not The End Of The World is too close stylistically to Black Widow (that she gave away to Iggy) and Dark Horse. Resilient is very Prism-sounding, but the title fits alongside "Rise", "Power", "Witness", and "Normalize" (all from the Witness sessions). Some may not be from this timeframe, but the idea that each album should've had a consistent concept ("Making the best of what you have in front of you" and "celebration of life" - weddings, children, vacations, etc.) still stands.

She chalked her lack of success up to issues with her label on where to take her image, their reluctance for her to write and choose her own songs, and a myriad of health issues that caused her to take 3+ year breaks between albums. Yes. She said "Purposeful Pop", but articles combined her music with Miley's "Malibu" and Lana Del Rey's "Coachella-Woodstock On My Mind" and coined the phrase "Woke-Pop Movement" as a white pop response to "Freedom", "***Flawless", "Formation", "DNA", and "Alright". Ground Zero of the "Woke-Pop" phrase. (Very) Early adopter of the "Woke-Pop" phrase.
Dula Peep Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 There’s not much they could’ve done… every star has a shelf life and they reached theirs but I would say for all of them the long breaks between albums did them no favors… especially for Xtina and Katy
Edit0rz Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Cyndi - Image change earl in her career. Focus on her ability as a singer. Paula - Focus on choreography. It's a wonder she was a successful as she was considering her capabilities. Xtina - Attitude check and less time between releases. Vocal couch to work on technique. I stand by saying she has one of the best vocal tones of all time when she isn't screaming. Katy - She lacked depth and artistry.
Kiss It Better Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Katy: - release Walking On Air as follow up to Dark Horse (summer 2014) + VMAs performance - Legendary Lovers remix on halftime show + Prism: The Complete Reflection surprise release that same night - do a random DJ collab in 2016 to keep her name out there - Witness as the lead single from Witness (Feb 2017) followed by Tsunami (ft. Rihanna) with the album coming in April 2017 - Witness singles would be: Witness - Tsunami - Roulette - Pendulum - Deja Vu - Never Really Over released as it was, followed by Harleys In Hawaii then the album in August 2019 - the singles would be: NRO - Harleys - CAIL - Daisies - Tucked Remix

slw84 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Cyndi did not now how to reinvent herself to keep up with Madonna. In her discography I'm not sure which singles could have changed things. Paula was not meant for longevity but she could have done more choreography afterwards. I think she should have released I need you instead of re-releasing the way that you love me and she should have never released knocked out. She should have released State of attraction So - State of attraction, the way that you love me, Straight up, Forever your girl, Cold hearted, Opposites attract 2nd era-I get why she lead with a ballad and then followed with a midtempo but three balladish songs in a row. No, Rush Rush then Vibeology then the promise of a new day then Blowing kisses then Rock house as a closer Christina her strong and wrong reinventions disenfranchised her base and a nasty attitude mixed with long breaks which would have worked had the other two things not been a factor. All three of them combined was a disaster. Christina tried to chase pop top tier which was never meant for her. She needed to aim for Beyonce's spot and be Justin timberlake's blue eyed soul match as Snoop said she should go urban but that's after she came with Back to basics. She her trying to follow the Britney formula was not going to work she should have done the opposite. Debut album then Back to basics would have giving her more praise and made it harder for Beyonce to dominate urban pop, then a latin album, then Stripped, then a xmas album, then Bionic, then another latin album, then a GH album, then Lotus then another latin album, then Liberation then a 2nd xmas album Wrong single choices: I turn to you, can't hold us down, candyman, keeps getting better and so on and so forth Katy dissed Britney and karma kept receipts went too radio driven and did not take risks. One of the boys era was as good as it was going to get Teenage dream was PERFECT but the chasing for radio hits should have stopped after the one that got away didn't hit #1. Teenage dream era: California gurls, Teenage dream, Firework, ET remix, Last Friday night, The one that got away perfect radio pop era The deluxe edition: Wide awake, Peacock remix then release two less radio friendly singles (one more rock edged and one more adult contemporary) but showed some sort of risk. If they flopped at least it was worth a try. Prism: Roar, nix pushing Unconditionally, Dark horse, This is how we do ft Iggy Azalea, Spiritual for a summery adult contemporary hit, Legendary lovers for a fall hit, By the grace of Godney for a winter risky adult contemporary single and then close with a fun Birthday single. Seven singles with 4 being obvious radio hits and then a few riskier singles peppered in (Spiritual, LL, BTGOG) she could have easily snagged 4 #1 hits with the right tactics, a couple of top 10/15 hits and a top 40 and covered her transition into more adult contemporary music. She had a shot at stretching it out 1 more era before the peak.

Tell 'em sis!! And let's not forget she also has an ACTING Primetime Emmy. There are legit Hollywood legends out there whos EGOT status is still called into question because all they got were Daytime Emmys or honorary awards, while Queendi sits pretty with her 3 competitive awards. Idk what she's waiting for to get that Oscar, though... For Kinky Boots: The Musical: The Movie to be greenlit?? All she has to do is write a song for ANY movie tbh...
