Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels are going on tour, and in the new Season 2 teaser released Thursday, we finally get our first peek at what’s in store.

When the critically acclaimed comedy returns to HBO Max Thursday, May 12 (its eight-episode run will roll out two episodes weekly), “The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her young, entitled writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah’s new stand-up act,” according to the official logline.

In the new footage (embedded above), we see the two ladies shopping, boating, drinking and yes, even dumpster diving together, all set to the tune of Mama Cass’ “Make Your Own Kind of Music.” And it wouldn’t be Hacks without a viscous showdown or two, as Deborah is seen hurling heavy objects at Ava’s head.

Legend Jean Smart coming to sweep awards season again :jonny5: Can't wait,  S1 was excellent!

I hope they make the young character more likeable. She was obnoxious in the first season.

The whole first season was stale and unfunny. I don't get the love.

It peaked with the antique store episode. It was middling after that.

The first six episodes are incredible (albeit a bit of a side character balancing issue that gets resolved as the season progresses). I've been dying for weeks to see how they round out the new season.

First 2 episodes were excellent :clap3:

The dynamic between Jimmy & his assistant cracks me up :ahh:

Spoiler

The gag when Deborah sued her for violating her NDA at the end of episode 2 :rip:

Jean Smart is on top form as ever,  she's winning another Emmy this year,  I fear :clap3:
